Hello :) I am new to the forum and my boyfriend and I recently got a seven week old long haired tabby we named Pyewacket. She is very sweet and everyone loves her. However I am trying to teach her not to be so rough in her play. She bites and scratches during play and I have been redirecting this behavior with a toy. However we also have a large free roaming house rabbit and I do worry that Pyewacket will try to get rough with our rabbit. Right now everything seems good as Pyewacket is mainly confined to the bedroom and our bunny is about 5 times her size. But this will change so any advice on how to let her know that bunny is not a plaything would be great. Thanks :)

Oh, she's such a sweet girl! Does she have a slight eye infection? That's common in a lot of kittens, you can get some eye drops from your vet that will clear that up.

I'm sorry, I don't know anything about rabbits so I can't give you any advice there. Cats that grow up with other animals usually know that the other pet is a friend rather than a toy though. Hopefully they'll grow to be great snuggle buddies.

She's a beautiful kitten! Is she part Maine-Coon, or fully so? They are my faves! Welcome aboard!

Kittens like to bite, scratch, kick, etc. I would always be around when the 2 are in the same room. If the kittens starts to use her claws or bite the bunny, tell her no, or squirt her with a water bottle. She will then learn that that behavior is a no no.

Kitties & bunnies make fine friends! I almost got a bunny for my alone kitty but then decided not to because I heard they like to chew on cords & I have cords everywhere.

Bottom line is monitor them together, I wouldn't leave them alone for a long period of time since it's all new. You want to see how they will react to each other.

Hey there, and welcome to TCS.

Pyewacket seems like a very pretty and sweet kitty and her name sounds very unique. Do you mind me asking what it means?

It's from Bell Book & Candle. You should watch it - the kitty is adorable!

Pyewacket came to us with slight conjunctivitis which her vet thinks was environmental. It has been clearing up really well though  and is almost completely gone now. Yes her name is from Bell Book and Candle which was one of my favorite movies as a kid. She is a sweetheart and has now taken to arching her back in halloween kitty pose and running sideways at us. She also loves to sleep above my boyfriend's head on his pillow which I am sure will be great when she is bigger. I am not sure of the maine-coon though but I guess she could be.

Hi there @PyewacketsMom  , excellent name.
Bell Book and Candle is one of my favourite movies and Pyewacket is a fabulous kitty to be named after.
I hope your little girl doesn't trigger any nasty sneazing attacks for your BF!
Pyewacket looks like she is going to be a very fluffy kitty and I'm looking forward to seeing how she grows over coming weeks and months.

With planned introductions for Pyewacket and your rabbit you might find the Cats and Other Animals Forum useful as there is plenty discussion there on this sort of topic.  This article on TCS might be worth taking a look at too:  http://www.thecatsite.com/a/cats-and-small-furries
