Help! I'm fairly sure my rescued baby's have tape worms, the worms look like small grains of rice coming from their bum. I know they have fleas also, I need to know what is the fastest most efficient way to be rid of them both. Ways that will not harm the cats! They're about six-seven months old. Indoor cats! I do not want to take them into the vet for I do not have the kind of money for that, but is it comes down to it I will.

Ask the vet for a dewormer.  If they've had fleas, they will have tapeworms.  Be sure you treat for fleas as well.

If you have a pet store near you, you could see if they carry a dewormer medicine. You could give the kittens a bath using a flea shampoo. There are also natural solutions to treating for fleas as well, if you're concerned about a medicated shampoo for fleas. Just do a search in the forums for "natural remedies for fleas".

Good luck!

Tape Tabs made by Tradewinds are OTC in US.  For the fleas I LOVE Advantage.  I would treat for the fleas first then deworm according to the package.

Are they fixed?

No they are not fixed, we're still trying to get everything to take care of them. We plan on getting them fixed next month. I have Advantage for small dogs and cats. Will it be alright is I give them a flea bath then use that then deworm them?

Bath would not be needed if your using a good flea product.  You do NOT want to use the really cheap ones like Hartz and that price point as way to many issues with them.

I am not familiar with small dog/kitten advantage-can you link it?

If they are male female they WILL breed.  And females have usually had a few heats by this age.

Tapeworms are not eradicated with Frontline, Advantage, or Revolution.  You need a special tapeworm medication from the vet.  Please don't use anything over the counter.

The active ingrediant in Tradewinds Tape Tabs is Praziquantel-that is the same ingrediant in Drontal that the vet gives.  Difference is Drontal also has pyrantel pamoate to treat for round worm.  Also known as Strongid.

You would be treating for fleas first to prevent the cat of just getting reinfected after treating it. Fleas are what spreads tapeworms.
