This is common.  I work in a vet office and normally we hear the next day saying "My cat is sick"... It's just the immune system battling the injection.  Injections are "neutralized" versions of the illnesses they are for so they won't give your cat the disease persay but they make the immune system able to defend it.  Thereby making your cat immune to it.  So, for a day or two, they'll act lethargic or feel a little droopy.  You only need to call your vet if they start running a high temp.  Or don't perk up in a day or so.  This is why vets prefer to do vaccinations and WAIT a couple of weeks before neutering or spaying or any other work.  People never understand this.  But the immune system is down, which means any surgical procedure they go through leaves them more vulnerable to infections.

This is a normal reaction, however keep an eye on him as he may need to return to the vet. My cat had a mild allergic reaction to her booster shot, and she had to be taken back in for more injections.

If he doesn't look back to normal in another 2-3 days, I'd call the vet and ask if you can bring him in again.

Our three have recently had first injections and were all fine but our vet did warn us they may be sleepy and lethargic for 24 hours. We were just warned to look out for bumps near the injection site. How is he today?
