After spend the last week on this website and searching the internet at 3:30pm today I finally let Franny move on.  I have cried for days.  I stop her meds/sub-q Monday 7/21.  I just knew it was the end.  I did so much sole searching about her dying at home.  Yesterday I could see she could hardly walk and as often as I tried to get her to lay in bed with me she kept going back to the closet next to my bed.  At 4:45am last night I could not find her and she had moved to another spot in the closet.  I put her back on my bed and when I woke at 9am she was back in the closet.  I struggled today...so bad.  But at 3pm I called my vet and i spent 30 mins waiting for him to arrive.  I spent 30 min taking some pics and loving and hugging her.  Her tail was moving when I said her name. But her eyes were not really focused on me, her organs were shutting down.  She was on my bed on a soft blanket.  My vet came in and gave her a quick shot and she just relaxed.  About 5 min later he gave her another shot and she passed in a few minutes.  Her eyes remained open(which I already knew about) I spent about 5 more minutes with her and then we wrapped in her blanket and I put her in the Vets car.

Right now I can tell you this was the smartest thing I have done for Franny.  You will struggle till you decide and then when you see that your pet will be able to die while you are petting her you will know its the right thing.

I really hope that anyone out there today who is struggling to make this decision, just know its not as bad as it seems.  My Franny is no longer dying alone in the closest.  And probably would have died tonight in the closet with out me being by her side.

Franny Rest in Peace my best friend of 12 years.

It's never an easy decision. She was very blessed to have you as her mommy.
I'm sorry for your loss.

I had to do this for my little boy, Spooky, three weeks ago.  He had advanced heart disease and was no longer responding to meds.  Somehow, I knew when it was time.  He let me know by the look in his eyes.  It is a heart-wrenching decision to have to make but it is the last act of love to do for a loving companion that has given so much to you.  I am still grieving and cry every day but I know in my heart that I made the right choice.  I am so sorry for your loss and can truthfully say that I know how sad you must feel.  You were with Franny till the very end and she knew how much she was loved.  She is no longer suffering because you have released her from her pain.  Rest in peace, Franny.

my condolences Robin. Your baby put up a great fight, as did you. You waited and gave your cat every chance, I wish I did the same for mine. Your beautiful baby went peacefully when it was time and you looked after her like a loving champion that you are.

I send my love to you both R.I.P Franny

Cats want to hide when they are not feeling well.  She was not rejecting you by not staying in the bed with you.   Hiding is their natural instinct when sick.   I am guessing it is nature`s way of protecting them while they are too weak to defend themselves.

With my cat, the sicker she got, the harder to find where she was.

What you did was a kind and unselfish act that let Franny move on and stopped the suffering.

I have to agree with Dr. Kris though, she is a helluva beautiful feline.   Gorgeous colors and features.    Where did you first meet?

Hey Zoneout,  I took that picture just 8 days ago.  She was very sick that day and she laid on the scratch pad by the front door with the fresh air.  She had just had some water and there is a silly drop of it on her mouth.  But Franny's eye's were growing sad.  I was told that Franny and her brother Lemmy(he is still here and not showing any signs of wonder that she is gone) were found in a cold puddle in NYC in March 12 yrs ago.  I wanted 2 cats cause I travel a lot and they can take care of each other.  I am so glad I got to rescue them from being PTS.  Thank you for asking, she was a beautiful friend that will be greatly  missed.   Now I will give her brother the attention he has been missing for a month.

You gave her the greatest gift of all, yourself, when she needed you the most. Not all of us can be with our little ones when they pass, but I am so happy for you both that you were able to say goodbye and comfort her. It's a horrible, horrible thing to watch a loved one suffer, and to take on their pain and release them from theirs is a wonderful thing that is the last act of love we can offer. My heart breaks for you and what you are going through, I'll keep you both in my thoughts and prayers. Bless you for loving so much to hurt so bad, you gave a wonderful tribute for a wonderful cat who will be missed but never forgotten. RIP beautiful Franny!

I'm sorry you lost your Franny so soon. I agree it seems so much better for them to go quickly rather than possibly suffering toward the end.
Thank you for showing picture of Franny, really wanted to see what she looked like. What a strikingly beautiful cat she was.
I hope her brother Lemmy is going to be ok. And you.
Understand how you must be feeling right now.

My condolences to you. That decision is extremely hard as I am struggling with it now. Mia has not Wayne or drank in 24 hours and until I little it ago was behind the couch. She is dying of lymphoma diagnosis may 1,2014. The only up side is that Franny had you by her and knew it was time and you were with her. She is no longer suffering. Although it is so hard on us as parents to these beautiful felines, it is something we must do to end their pain and suffering.

Again my condolences and I'm so sorry for you. You are in my thoughts.
