My name is Ysabella but you can call me  and I'm kind of new here. I've actually been stalking Catster for a while after learning that I would be getting a kitten soon. I was pretty excited and couldn't wait to get him/her (I didn't know whether it was one or the other at that time).
I also realized that I had to learn as much about cats as possible if I wanted to properly take care of the kitten.

2 months went by and there you have it. I tagged along with my parents and we brought home a new addition to our family. To be honest, I was expecting a female - but I got a male instead. He's sleeping beside me, so how could I possibly complain?

Before I got King, I never knew it would be this difficult to take care of a kitten. No matter how hard I try to encourage him, he does not cover his... droppings. He scratches, I'll give him that, just not in the right place. I can't decide whether he has bad hand-to-eye coordination or if, possibly, the litter box is too small.

It's definitely a different and pleasant experience having him around. :3 I hope I'll be able to give him the proper care and affection he deserves and, if I'm ever unsure about something, I hope I can depend on you guys to help.

Hi Ysabella, welcome! And welcome to King as well!

There are some other threads, as cats not burying their poop can be quite common. In some cases, they just don't like to. In others, you're right - if could be the type of litter or litter box they're in:

Some cats like different types of scratching posts, whether it's the direction they face (vertical, horizontal, diagonal) or different materials (carpets, cardboard, rope). You can try things like double sided tape, foil, or sandpaper where he normally scratches that you don't want him to, and something like catnip or catnip spray on things you do want him to scratch.

Hello and welcome!

yeah having a kitten is not that easy although its easier than having a puppy still you need to take care of him like a real baby. My two kittens also do not cover their droppings in the litter box, I think they're just to young and still don't know how to do it. Just give him some time ^^

Sure! :3 I've made him a cat page and I'll likely update it with pics sometime soon - once he stops pouncing on my hands and keyboard. ._.

Welcome! King is very cute. Seems like the uncovered poop thing is a little common. Lily, my kitten, is great at using the litter box. But she will cover her poop later in the day. Its like she is too lazy to do it right away. She always ends up covering it like an hour later.
