So, last Saturday, I offered to take some of my friends barn cats to try and find them homes. Something has been killing the adults in record numbers. She has been keeping all the "orphans" in a separate barn with the one remaining non feral momma. This sweet mama will let any of them suckle. Thankfully, they are all old enough to eat some kibble and have goats milk. (its a goat farm)
There was one tiny tiny kitten. Now, she has had several mini cats over the past years, mostly from inbreeding.
She actually took one in over a year ago. She is about 4lbs. now.
This tiny girl is 9 weeks at the very least. She remembers the day she came out crying for her mama who never came back. Thankfully, the other momma helped raise her. So, at 9 - 10 weeks, she weighed 12oz.
My concern is finding her a reputable home. (it's SO tempting to keep her!!)
I know my friend was advised against spaying her small cat. Not particularily because of her size but she also had chronic upper and a deformed nasal cavity.
She is doing well and has gained 3 oz in 3 days! So, I know she will catch up eventually. I am taking her to the vet on Thursday just to see if there are any other concerns. Here's a pic.
