Long story short...my neighbor and longtime friend adopted a cat from the shelter. She was traveling for work often and took him once. With his age and shelter/foster history it was traumatic for him. So, she asked me to watch him for three days and NEVER came back for him despite me contacting her. She won't answer the phone. Ignores most texts. Even took her fence down so she can park in the backyard to avoid people.
Here's the thing...it's been four months! Her cat got very very sick and I literally begged her via text (and sent pics of his bloody urine) to her. She dropped off canned tuna and chicken broth to cure him since she read it online.
Two days later...she snatched him off of my property in the night to take him to a new home. Two days after that...
Just had to pick up the Cat.
He hasn't stopped crying since I dropped him off. Being torn from his buddies I think is just too much even with the new cat. So I'm sure he will run back to your house, but just don't let him in if you don't want to. I'll leave him food out front, but he doesn't seem to be so keen on me since I am the kidnapper now, so I don't expect much love from him. He's apparently been non stop crying.
She never came back for him. Doesn't supply food, care, shelter, or vet care. I've done it all and want to know what my legal options are in Texas. This is obviously a case of abandonment, right? I told her point blank I did not need any more animals since my health is rapidly declining.
I'm at my wits end. I've lost a friend and am worried about the future of this poor cat. But, I want to recoup my losses for his constant care.
What to do?
