Hi all,

My cat escaped and got into a fight with a stray cat. He has a torn up paw and puncture wounds on his body. The vet stitched up the paw and gave me some antibiotics and pain medicine for him while he heals. He has an e-collar (cone) on that is making him frustrated. Has been really lethargic and sleeping most of the time. I've noticed that when he's sleeping he is trembling as though he is shaking.  I'm not sure what this could be from, I've put a blanket on him but it doesn't seem to help. He shouldn't have a fever since he's on antibiotics....has anyone else experienced this? Should I take him back to the vet???

Thanks.

Thanks for replying, he had a laceration on his paw so he has a couple of stitches. This was two days ago. He's eating and drinking fine. He's on Buprenorphine for the pain and Clavamox as an antibiotic.

Ok. It's possible the shaking is a mild side effect of the Buprenex. I have had a few cats not tolerate the full dose they were prescribed (eyes heavily dialated, vocalizing...)

Since he is acting fine otherwise, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Though, a quick call to the vet certainly wouldn't hurt.
