My cat Nugget has been doing this for about a year now but hes getting worse. He keeps walking around the house meowing louder than any cat I've ever heard and now he does it even more. My husband can sleep thru it most of the times but I cant and its causing serious strain on our relationship. We've tried locking him out of the room, locking him in the room with us away from the other cats, locking him in the room with us with another cat, making him sleep in a carrier, feeding him before we go to bed. Nothing works and he didnt start this until he turned about 1. My husband wanted me to find out if anyone knows why hes doing this and how to make him stop. Our house has thin walls so locking him in another room wont work and we dont trust him outside

Wow, so sorry your kitty is stressing you so much. Lack of sleep is definitely no fun. I think, though, that the stress from him moving has definitely not made things any easier for him. How long has it really been since you've moved? 6 months? Longer? I just know that cats absolutely hates, hates, hates change of any kind, and I know moving is one of those dreadful things you could do to felines. Some are especially sensitive, so it sounds like your boy is one of them. Have you tried a calming diffuser or using Rescue Remedy? I'd also try hardcore interactive play with him about an hour before your bedtime (da bird or other similar wand toy). Make your kitty run, chase, jump, and hunt it's prey to complete exhaustion--up to 20 minutes if you can, or until he has to lie on his side to rest. Then feed him his last meal of the day, and see if it helps. This must become a part of a nightly routine, though, to be effective. But by expending some of his energy, he'll hopefully disperse some of his stress on your feather toys instead, and keeping everything routine will keep him much more calmer.

Crossing my fingers for you guys! Wishing the sandman comes for you and kitty both very soon!

I understand how you feel! We have a similar problem with our cat. He begins meowing around 5am every morning. He is an indoor cat, but he wants to go into the hallway outside our apartment. I am afraid that if I let him go into the hallway, he will meow at our neighbor's door. He also doesn't like to play with any toys, but he does like to chase me around our apartment, and he likes to be chased, so I think I will try chasing him around to make him tired each night. He also meows at the door more in the summer than the winter. Good luck with your cat!

Are you cats spayed/neutered?  If not that could be the issue.  Cats want to be outside searching for a mate especially during the summer.  Please do not allow unspayed/unneutered cats outside.  The cat population is out of control.  In seven years, an unspayed female and unneutered male cat can produce up to 781,250 kittens.

Neutering him will help alot.

Maybe he is in pain? it could be his belly hurts or he's sick for something, cats are sensitive animals and maybe he was something bothering him, maybe it would be a nice idea to take him to the vet to see if there's something wrong with him

I found out what his issue is. There is a female stray that stands outside and meows so he's meowing back
