Hi everybody,
I've been reading the board for 3 months now and found tons of great advises, thank you.
Thought it is time to say "Hello" and to introduce my cats. Please forgive my poor English.
Toto - An abused feral, came to me from a shelter in Norway, February 2003. He was then about 1.5 y.o. At first he was afraid of everything and everybody, but over the years he became the most loving, mellow and affectionate cat one can imagine. Though he never got quite rid of some neurotic habits caused by ghosts from the past, Toto loved everybody and everybody loved him, even people that normally aren't fond of cats. He moved with me from Norway to Florida in 2008, together with his life long bb semi-sister Sissi.
Toto crossed The Rainbow Bridge on April 11 this year, at the age of 13 y., suffering from CRF, after long treatment and many hospitalisations. He made the transition by euthanasia, in my arms, wrapped in his favorite blanky. He was tired from it all, so I made the "right" decision that doesn't feel right, and been grieving and torturing myself since.
Here is Toto on his best
I made a little Tribute to him for a couple months ago, to honor his wonderful spirit and the joy he brought to us.
Not good at making videos, did my best:
Teddy - A stray 2 y.o. male black boy, came to me from MDAS Miami Dade on April 17, only one week after Toto's passing. I have no idea why, just saw a photo of him online, was acting on instinct and it feels right. At that point he had been caged at the shelter for over a month and the next man for being euthanized. (I figured they give kittens about 2 months, and the adult cats a month or so). After the initial fear and insecurity, also nightmares that were shaking his body and made him curl up to me under the comforter, Teddy got the idea of his trauma being over and his forever home. He started to relax and to believe me, and from that moment he has been the most happy-go-lucky cat I have ever had the honor to love. He likes everything, all is fine and wonderful, he makes happy comments over his food, his toys, and even over the ever so grumpy Sissi. There are no behavioral issues with Teddy what so ever, and he's got clean bill from the vet. I think he once had a home, because there are no signs of a feral cat in Teddy. I love this fella and we have bonded in no time. He is a happy cat enjoying himself, his only concern is how to approach Sissi without receiving a smack
