Cats seem to be drawn to me. I now have 10 cats that I feed. 3 live inside the house and the rest live in the garage and come and go outside as they please via a cat door. They all have names even though a couple of them just come in to eat only. I feed them all dry cat food but because there are so many cats the Cat food expense has steadily increased. Getting rid of some of the cats is out of the question because I'm attached to them all (ages 3 months to who knows lol). I need to know if there is an inexpensive source of cat food. Any help on this will be appreciated.

This might be an idea, if you don't care what kind/brand of food it is:

I work in a pet store part time and when we have a broken bag of cat food, we put it aside as we have regular customers who run a non-profit cat rescue. When they come into the store we give them the ripped or torn bags for free. We can't tape up and continue to sell the bags, so instead of wasting them by throwing them out, we give them away. This practice is done on the "secretive level" as we don't want every single person asking for free bags.

Maybe check and ask your local pet stores, even big chains such as PetSmart or Petco. Ask for the store manager and explain your situation, they might be able to help you out!

Best of luck!

Thank you for caring for these cats.  I hope that the cats you are feeding have all been spayed/neutered or the 10 cats will soon multiply before your eyes.  Kittens can get pregnant as early as 4 months.

You can also try big box stores like Sam's Club or Costo that have cat food in bulk.  It is cheaper when you buy alot.

Thank you. I have spay/neutered the majority of them. All that's left is 2 kittens and their father (who I initially thought was the mother because he doted on the babies so.)The kittens are still too young to be 'fixed'.

Do you have an Aldi near you?  They have good prices on pet food.  The kittens can be spayed/neutered as long as they are 2 lbs.  Yet some vets are different.  I would not be allowing the kittens to go outside if they are not fixed yet.  You don't want any accidents!!

I'll check with Aldi, there's one nearby. The 2 kittens are to be inside cats so there's no problem there. They are brother and sister though so I will have both on the top priority list to be fixed.
