Hello everyone,

I rescued two kittens with HORRIBLE ringworm. I mean horrible, two vets said it was one of the worst cases they have seen. We have been treating them for two weeks with lime sulfur dips, lamisil cream on their ears in between dips and a spray called "Fungisan" that came highly recommended to get their hair to grow back.

I haven't really noticed any improvement. Their spots are darkening to a brown color, I'm assuming stained from the dip? Not sure though.

They are also now on a oral medication for ringworm that the vet prescribed. They just started this a few days ago. I have been doing the dips with a solution of 4oz per gallon but I hear 8oz per gallon is recommended, so I bought more and will mix up that solution once I am out of my current one.

I have also bought Colloidal Silver as so many people recommended this. I bought the 500 ppm, highest you can get I believe. I have not used it yet as I want to ensure I use it properly. If you have used it, what ppm did you use internally? And how do you dilute it down properly?

How do I put it on them? Can I just spray it on them at 500ppm? Do they need to have an e-collar on while it dries since from my understanding 500ppm is way too high for them to ingest?

Please let me know about your experience. Do you feel it helped with a ringworm outbreak?

I'm also open to any other products you recommend I buy. I know there are not any short cuts, I am keeping the environment clean and everything, just want to help these poor babies the best I can. And clear them up to prevent infection of my other fosters and my own animals. (They are quarantined completely away from the other animals but still, they are in the house).

Thanks!

I have two rescue kittens with ringworm.  I put an ointment on their neck and ears, but I use colloidal silver on their faces.  I got 250ppm and I put it in a spray bottle.  I spray it on a cotton ball and then dab, not rub, the cottonball on their faces lightly.  I always test it by dabbing a spot on my arm to make sure enough comes out to wet them without dripping.  Their faces are the only part that has cleared up.  I did notice the spots got darker for a day or two and then started to heal.  Good luck!  I'm having a rough time myself.  I've got the kittens in quarantine in a bathroom and I change the linens daily and wash with bleach.  I also put them in carriers and take them to another room every other day to scrub the bathroom down before putting them back.  I got some old men's dress shirts and wear one backwards like a smock over my clothes when I handle them.  One kitten seems to be recovering, but the other still is getting new spots, although not that many.  I was actually coming on the site to get ringworm advice myself.

Thank you! Good luck to you too.

I highly recommend lime sulfur dip if you don't use it already. I also like using apple cider vinegar if the skin isn't too raw. If it is too raw it will burn them, but you can dilute it down so it won't burn.  I used apple cider vinegar on myself when I got ringworm, left it overnight and it was gone in the morning (no joke, nothing worked for months but this worked straight away). Obviously you can't leave something on a cat like that, but spraying them on the days in between helped us with our last litter. These guys have it really bad and I feel it would burn them so we aren't using it on this litter. I have heard people put this in their water every single day though (even when they don't have ringworm).

Hope you beat it quick! I think I just got a spot :(
