Hi guys,

I will try to make this as brief (though as detailed) as I can. Before Christmas, my cat Ragdoll was involved in a RTA. Following the incident she had quite a few injuries, including a broken pelvis, broken jaw, trouble urinating/defecating, etc. Anyway, to cut a long story short, 7 months down the line Ragdoll (albeit with no tail now) is much better, apart from one issue. Since the beginning of May, she has started urinating inappropriately, usually when she is walking down stairs she will stop for a couple of seconds and start urinating quite a bit. Also, following these incidents, she will meow (the sort of cry they do when they're in heat) become very affectionate and want to eat A LOT. She would easily eat 3 bowls of food within seconds after she has one of these accidents. This behaviour happens for about 5-10 minutes, and then she'll become normal/relaxed again.

When I first took her to the vets because of this they explained that it was cystitis caused by stress (which seemed strange to me because A: isn't cystitis more associated with small amounts of urine being passed rather than what seemed, an almost full bladder? and B: Why would they not consider the physical damage she sustained before Christmas as an explanation for this behaviour? Anyway, they gave her cystophan and loxicam. It took about a month but she seemed to be getting better, though I don't know whether that was a fluke or the medication actually worked. She had a 'dry' month and then it started it again. This time while she is urinating she will foam at the mouth (as if she wants to be sick) I took her back to the vets and they wanted to take a urine sample but her bladder was completely empty (typical considering she hasn't been able to empty her bladder properly in a long time!) I asked if it could perhaps be bacterial cystitis but they explained that had it of been that all this time, she would be very il with high temperature, weight loss, etc. They said she had an inflamed bladder and gave her loxicom again. She has now been on loxicom for a week and still has had 3 accidents. I'm going to try and get a urine sample when I can but has anyone got any idea what this is? The behaviour she's exhibiting is bizarre too.

Would appreciate any feedback on this! My poor baby has been through so much.

I would agree with you that the broken pelvis and loss of tail could be contributing factors. Maybe you should consider getting a second opinion with a specialist? Many vibes for your baby.
