Wet kibble, if not eaten right away and left out, can develop bacteria and mould things very quickly and becomes a hazardous waste site. Take away whatever is not eaten immediately and throw it away.

Hoping he's better by Monday.

Just wanted to show my support! Bladder issues in boys is very scary! My own cat went through this for 3 months, til it got sorted out. Diet is the key and vigilance on your behalf to recognise when they are not feeling too great again. I hope that he will make a quick recovery and leads a long healthy life ahead!

And I'll soak his food in a little bit of water,  as online searches say to do

Can you elaborate on what this means please?   I get an uneasy feeling when I read this.
I mean I'll dampen his kibble up a little bit, to hydrate him more
Yup, that`s what I was afraid of.   Another kibble related blockage.

If you want to help your cat, get the kibble out of his life.

Go straight to www.catinfo.org - do not pass Go and do not collect $200.

Best wishes,

Z

Yep, the vet actually just told us a few hours ago that we should switch to wet food. Looks like that's what we'll be doing. Thanks for the advice! :D

Good call and wholeheartedly second what zoneout said. Canned is better for them for so many other reasons too.
Good for you! Glad the boy is recovering, very scary.

If the doc gives you Bupronex (a pain reliever) make sure you give it to him as per the advised schedule.   Bupronex helps relax the urether so that any remaining crystals/scar tissue can pass easier.   Some people decide not to give it because the cat doesnt seem in pain - they are missing the point.  It helps stop reblocking.

Oh, of course! :D We're not taking any chances anymore (not that we really took any in the past, besides the kibble!) Thanks for the advice, though

Charlie Boy is home! They gave us Orbifloxacin to give him daily, which we had been giving to him every time he had problems before. He looks so happy :D
