when i first brought Finnegan home, he was filthy so i gave him a bath and got as many fleas off him as i could in the tub. then i waited until he was completely dry (a few hours) and applied kitten revolution. the next day we went to not our normal vet as i wanted him checked up ASAP to make sure he didn't have felv/fiv, etc. for the safety of my other cats (even though he was seperated, i am paranoid..he tested negative). anyway, that vet told me i should have waited two days after bathing him to apply the revolution and i should dose him again in another week (it'll be a week tomorrow). i've been combing him with the flea comb and at first only got dead fleas. now i'm not getting any dead fleas or flea dirt at all. should i still give him another treatment like they said? it seems like it worked.

I wouldn't right now. No need to give him the additional dose if it seems to be working just fine. If you are going to use it again, I would wait the full four weeks. But that is just me.

I never dose any topical after a bath for few days as feel like the skin may absorb it to fast.  If the fleas are not alive I would not redose.  Revolution has been the one to cause issues in my cats as is and it is not my go to.  With heavy infestation in the house you may need to dose sooner then the stated time but if you took care of the issue right away I would be more inclined to say it will last the full time package says.
