I often rotate the clowder's meals and it has been a long time since they've rejected something utterly. I know they don't like pate, but they have come to eat Trader Joe's and others, but it can be tricky, so I like to stick with chunky most of the time.

The 5.5 oz can of the brand was chunky, but they were out of the flavor in that size so I bought a couple of 3 oz cans. WRONG! Pate! Ah well. It is dinner time and Artie (Ragdoll) and Jessie (Orange DSH) are singing for their dinner in their funny, sweet songs. I put it down, and they dive in - or so I thought.

They walked away. No problem, they've done this before, I just have to wait 10 minutes (after all, they ARE hungry - timed feedings) and they will reluctantly eat it. Ah, but not tonight - something entirely new happens.

Without a sound (or song) they start following me around and STARE at me! I stop, they stop and turn those burning eyes at me! I say, oh no... I know you're going to eat it, and ignore them. They hide waiting for my return... and then STARE at me! Ten minutes pass, 20 and at 30 I give in! They get what they want, and I live and learn.

The little stinkers! I left a teaspoon of the horrid stuff in their bowel with the favored food. They've gone back and finished it! Cats 2, Guardian 0.

Haha, that's pretty good.  When I want my cats to eat something they're not used to, I mix it in with something I know they love and make sure the good stuff is on top.  By the time they're halfway through, they've already eaten some of the 'horrid stuff' without realizing it....

I've been PWN-ed. Instead of throwing it out, I decided to put a couple more spoonfuls out for their late night (before bedtime) snack. Eh.... guess what?

That horrible, nose up, stare me down garbage? They now ate it! All-righty then. I'm on to them now.

Those guilt invoking stares notwithstanding, in the future, a FULL 30 minutes before I cave! Hrumph. (After all, it was the first time they used the stare - and I may be a cat slave, but I'm no dummy - you only get one shot at it guys!)
