Hello cat friends!

So. Last you all heard from me I was about to have surgery on my knee (arthroscopic).  That went well (other than how ill I got from the anesthesia afterwards but hey, that always happens to me), and I've been in physical therapy since to gain strength back.  Walking around for a year (or barely) really took a toll on my muscles/ligaments.  Half way done with that and walking so much better than before.  Commuting has been difficult, but I'm coping.

Work has been crazy.  It's where I usually posted from since by the time I get home, it's fairly late and I'm pretty much exhausted.  Eat dinner, hangout a bit with my BF and kitties, and I'm done.  But, internet use at work has become less frequent as I'm just too busy to keep up with the boards (this and others I'm on).  I don't know if I ever mentioned, but I'm the office/hr/financial manager of a kind of well known architectural firm.  I'm there now 5 years.  For the first few, I didn't feel the need to go overboard in the job (I'm good, and I know it) but we're in a state of growth and working even when out of the office at times, has become a common occurrence. Not that I mind, but it's a new way of working for me.

Anyway, these two things explain why I've been absent.  Kitties are doing great.  In fact, we've realized that Casper has become more calm in a lot of ways about things which used to make him anxious (storms) since Cocoa has been with us.  I think her take it as it comes ways has rubbed off on him, and he takes some comfort from her presence.  He's now 13 (his birthday was in May) and we can tell feeling older, but he's healthy and loving. And she, is a complete delight as she always has been.  Got a new camera, so I've been taking pix of them and really enjoying how much clearer those photos are LOL.  Will try and remember to post some of those (they are on my desktop, right now I'm using the laptop).

BTW, is anyone going to the New Jersey Cat Show this coming weekend?  Or, showing?  I think we're going to try and go since it's kind of close to where we live.  Going to take the new camera and expect to get MUCH better pix than last year!

So, how are all of you?  Catch me up!

Laurie

Great to hear from you Laurie!
I'm glad you are feeling better!

I wonder if you've had the same sort of storms we have had.  Maybe Cocoa can come rub off my my 4 year old.  She has decided she doesn't like storms and asks me almost every night if it's going to storm.  I'd like to convince DH that she needs a kitty of her own (M&N don't deal with kid noises very well, much as I try to teach the kids) but I don't see that happening.

Thanks!

Mooch, yes, we did have those storms.  I'm in NJ.  In fact, I got caught in the worst one coming back from physical therapy one day.  I had to stop 4 times on the way home.  Could not see out the front, back, sides, rear view, nada.  Was hailing and utterly torrential.  Never saw anything like it other than Florida, and even when I lived there I never got caught driving in a storm quite like that.  Was very frightening.

As for cats and storms.  Since Cocoa was a rescue, we suspect she just got used to having to cope with them.  Casper, was indoor/outdoor before we adopted him but, I think he's prior owner didn't let him out during those times or, he came home before they struck.  He used to hide under the bed.  Now, he'll perk up his ears, look worried but sees her just hanging out and well, he just doesn't feel the need to run for safety I guess.  Same with fireworks too.  Our house is really close to where they set them off July 4th and this year he just sat there!

Either that or he's going deaf.  Which we know isn't the case since he still reacts to his name being whispered and the sound of a can opening :D
