Hi, I Foster Cats/Kittens, TNR and adopt out.  I was "given" a box of kittens.....and they all have URI's.  I am treating them all with a Humidifier and have antibiotic from other kitties.  I do not have a way to get them seen right now and wonder if a Vet I work with would give me advice on given them the antibiotics I have.  Please do not tell me I should have not brought them in.......They do not deserve to be alone and sick.  Thanks.

It's definitely worth giving your vet a call. Depending on your relationship, they may help you without an exam especially if they are aware of your experience. Some care is better than no care. However, depending on the cause of the URI, they may need more than antibiotics. Good luck.

Sure you can ask this vet.  Why not?   It depends a little on the tone and atmosphere at your working place.  But I presume a vet is only happy his coworkers are interested.

If you take care of orphans, you will be more skilled  as employee, so its a win win situation for the vet.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone for the replies.  They seem to be doing better.  I am awaiting a call back from the Vet to see if he can just give me proper dosage based on weight.  It's worth trying.  After getting them healthy, it will be time to spay/neuter and then network for a good home.  Kitten season , no matter how much you TNR , there is always new kittens popping up everywhere.  I so wish we can just "pour" birth control pills in their food. : (
