We do under the skin (sub q) fluids daily on my cat! He is in Renal failure but this has really been a great treatment plan. Usually cats that are in Renal failure don't make it that long... I am blessed to say that is helped Elvis stay alive an additional three years! To look at him you wouldn't even know anything is wrong with him. His treatment includes a few meds including azydol (pill) Sub Q's(ivs) and lactulose( to help with bms).  It isn't hard to give the fluids you just pull the skin lightly and then push the iv in.

 It's great what we can do for our pets these days. So worth making the effort to learn these things if we can improve the quality of life for them.

Yes!   We are so lucky we have such a great team of vets and vet techs who are so willing to give us help and support.  Elvis is such a little blessing, and so behaved.. he just lays down and we give him his iv... in some ways I feel like he knows it helps him. I am so thankful that these options are here to keep him comfortable!
