We have 5 cats. I'm feeding them 1/4 cup dry in the mornings (that's what the bag says) and 1/2 of a 5.8 oz can wet at night. They are all indoor cats.

They range from 10 lbs to 13 lbs. They are all maintaining their weight. Not losing weight, if anything, they gain a few ounces when they go to the vet for a check up.

2 of our cats don't even finish all their morning food. Our 13 lbs cat seems to be more hungrey at dinnertime and tries to get to the others food. I don't know if he just like the wet food or if he really is hungrey. All our other cats seem to be find with the amount of food I feed them. Our youngest (1 year old) tries to get into every food he sees. LOL He tries to eat people food and peanut butter while I'm giving my dog her pills. He loves food. LOL Anyway, should I feed our 13 lbs cat more? (I gave him a whole can for dinner tonight). I don't want him to gain anymore weight.

Any suggestions?

Thank you,

Bernice

Is he fat? Can you see a defined waist? @pinkdagger gave a good weight chart in this thread:

If he just feels hungry but needs to a lose a little, you could give him wet food instead of the dry portion. Wet food has less carbs, so if you replace it with the same amount of calories, he'll probably lose weight.

If your 1-year old is open to new food, you should introduce him to a wide variety. Someday you may want him to eat a different texture or style for health reasons, and it will be easier if he has a broad idea of what constitutes food.

Thank You. Our 13 lbs cat is slightly overweight. The vet said "don't let him gain anymore weight". But I don't want to under feed him either. Thank you for that website. I'll check it out.

You'll probably do fine just replacing dry with wet.
