I have a room in my house that I only use for sick cats while they recover. They are strays. I recently found the room is infested with fleas. I sprayed the entire room with flea and tick spray over the counter and it didn't touch the problem. I then used the armor over the counter spray and still no change. I purchased a product at the pet store and used it and I see the problem is reduced by at least 95%. I still see a few fleas here and there - I put on white socks and walk around the room. Of course I never let my animals in that part of the house now until this is resolved. Please offer some of your remedies. Thank you ahead of time.

The thing about flea infestation is that they build up a "tolerance" to medicines and sprays over time.  The best way is to find the newer stuff at your vet office.  Sometimes you can get them for cheaper at Petco or PetSmart.  Not always.  But try something you haven't used before that has excellent reviews from customers.  I like Revolution.  I don't think you can get that without an RX though?  Switch on and off.  I do that.  I'll use Revolution and Frontline Plus, they have a new formula out now.  I haven't heard good things about Pet Armour either.  Just don't use Hartz whatever you do.  As far as "natural"  I wouldn't waste your time.  Revolution says the best way is to put it on your cat and let the cat be your defense once medicated but it never hurts to wash everything in super hot water.  Or shampoo carpets with pet cleaner that kills fleas.

We had fleas in our backyard because a feral mother and her two kittens were living under our deck. My grandmother sweeps the deck everyday, and tadaa, we got fleas inside the house. They're SO hard to get rid of. It's actually driving us crazy. We flea bombed the entire house twice, and it seems to be better now.

We're planning to use diatomaceous earth (food grade) for the backyard. That stuff is completely non-toxic and is supposed to work very well, so maybe you could try that. It physically (not chemically) harms insects because it cuts through their exoskeletons and sucks out their moisture, so it's harmless to people and pets.
