I'm new to this site and very excited!! These are my babies.... Mario the new kitten, mila the gray 2 year old and the big one is Zimmie (15 yrs old) . Over all the're pretty good with each other, until last week when mila started cornering the kitten and not letting him use the litter, so Mario started having accidents behind my TV..... I have used sprays to stop him from going behind the TV... Didn't work very well, now I'm using comfort zone( has anyone used this product) hopefully it will work!!! . I am open to any suggestions, . Please help!!!!!

Thank you!!! . :)

Welcome! Lovely cats!

How many litter boxes do you have? The general rule is one per cat, plus one extra, and kept in different areas to prevent one cat from preventing others from using the box they want to "guard". Keeping them in separate areas can prevent ambushing or guarding if there's one problematic cat - if she doesn't want to share, she can't guard them ALL and at least the other cats will have the option to go to other boxes. If you haven't done so already, I would suggest cleaning the area behind the TV with an enzymatic cleaner to get the scent out.

Hello hello, welcome to you and your little fur-family
I would have suggested the same thing but it seems pinkdagger has beat me to it!

Hi, welcome to TCS!  My mil is going through the same problem with a cat she has recently taken in.  I agree with pinkdagger, excellent advice.  I used Feliway when we adopted Daisy and that seemed to help.

Remember to clean that area very well as pinkdagger said.  Even if you can't smell it, your cat can if it hasn't been cleaned properly.

I've just been through this myself, so I'm really keen that people know what to do!

Here's a quote from this article:

The smell of urine may encourage the cat to spray again on the same spot. You should clean the stain thoroughly by using special products that completely neutralize any odors rather than just covering them up. Avoid products that contain ammonia, since these may actually remind the cat of the smell of urine

I have 4 litter boxes all in the basement but in different spots. . The area has been cleaned with nature's choice, stain and odor remover and litter is being cleaned twice a day, I am happy to say, no accident for yesterday!! :) . Keeping my fingers crossed.
