Hi!

So a few months back I bought my first Persian kitten! I named her Suri, which is Persian for princess. Suri is 8 months old now. I noticed she has been getting fat, but I'm not sure if she is just fat or if she is pregnant... Suri is a VERY arrogant cat. It's almost like she knows she's a pedigree cat. She doesn't really like sitting on your lap, but she likes it when you pick her up and hold her sort of like you would hold a baby and at night she sleeps with me on my bed.

Also she has been catching ALOT of bird. Just the other night (AT MIDNIGHT!), she brought in her 3rd one of the week.
She doesn't really like me touching her belly, when I try to feel it she'll whine and run away. Suri is also kind of a loner. She doesn't interact with our other cat much.  It's kind of hard to get a good look at her with all her..Also how does it feel when the kittens move? (weird question) She was on heat a few months back...

I heard that they'll be very affectionate when they're pregnant, but Suri isn't overall affectionate, she'll spin when you pick her up but only for a certain amount of time and the she'll get up and walk away in disgust.
But when I have food she'll suddenly purr and and be all over me. Like I said, she sleeps with me at night on my pillow, then she'll want me to pet her and she'll purr and just be a happy cat, and our other cat will come and kind of groom her until he falls asleep too.

Please help!

Thanx!

Did you let her outside when she was in heat? Is it at all possible a male got to her or that she wandered off to mate? If you are unsure if she is pregnant or unsure how to tell, the best thing for you to do would be to take her to your vet and have them check her over (ultrasound, etc.).
Keep us posted

Try giving her a couple of treats, and while she's distracted, sneak your fingers on her belly to check her nipples.  If they are enlarged and pinkish/reddish, that will be your first sign that she's preggers.  Good luck!

We recently got a male kitten but I think he's still yo young to be dad..It's kind of hard for us to keep her in because we has dogs and a toddler going in and out. We are still saving up money to get her spayed... I feel some movement in her tummy but Im not sure if that us suppose to be how it feels like?! Its kind of hard to explain. :/ It kind of feels like a bubble popping?

So this is her... She's very affectionate today. This morning she running in my room, she laid down in my bed and started to purr and when I take my away she grab it and put it to her face.. And later on she sat on my lap again for a while. She's very housebound today, usually she likes the outdoors way more.

UPDATE!!! So my aunt visited me today and she noticed the same thing I did, Suri's fat! Lately she's been a lot more affectionate and her tummy has gone stone hard. Yet her nipples look the same and I can't feel or see babies moving. Also she's constantly eating. What do you think?

It sounds like she's showing a lot of symptoms, from what I've read! You might have kittens soon! You could take her to the vet to be sure :) she's such a pretty cat!

Yeah, cats can become pregnant at pretty young ages. If she's gone into heat, she can become pregnant (as long as she's not been fixed and can get outside our near a non-neutered male).

My kitty was never very affectionate either, until she became pregnant. Now she sleeps with me all the time and always is near me. If Suri's being even slightly more affectionate that's a sign, along with her weight gain and visible nipples. If you really want to be sure you can take her to a vet and they'll tell you, or you could just wait and find out. One morning you might wake up and Suri will be hiding in the closet it a litter of kittens :)

You mentioned recently getting a male kitten. How old is he? I didn't think my boy would be old enough this spring either and thought it would be next year that they'd have kittens, but it turned out he was still old enough! It's instinctive and natural. I'd get your boy and Suri fixed as soon as you can, since cats can become pregnant again even while nursing kittens.

I was planning on getting her spayed, it's just been a bit of a struggle. Umm, our kitten is a few months old, about 4 - 5 months?

If she's been outside and had her first heat, she's most likely pregnant. They don't have to be in heat to get pregnant either.

Talk to the vet asap to see about a spay/abort. She's far too young to be a mom. Plus the kittens will just add to the overpopulation problem. Too many kitties already need homes.

This thread has been quiet. I have a 10 month old persian named suri. I also have a 5 month old male kitten. He has been climbing on suri's back, but we dont know if he is just playing. Anyway neither of them are spayed yet (we are working on it) and Suri ahas gotten a bit of a belly lately. I want to know if she is pregnant or just fat?? I've been looking for signs but shes a very private cat. Please tell me if you think she's pregnant??

It is impossible to tell if she is pregnant, but it is absolutely essential that you immediately separate him and her and keep them separated until at least one of them is fixed.  If you get him fixed first, you will need to keep them separated form some weeks after that too because it is possible for males to impregnate females for a little while even after they are neutered.

She is too young to need to deal with a pregnancy and it is not healthy for her.  In addition, the cost of raising kittens (and possibly having more cats if you keep any of them) will be way more than just paying for a spay and neuter.  Please get this taken care of as soon as you can, and again, keep them separated until then.  Some males are sexually mature at 5 months.
