I tried , I really did ..  So many different brands , textures & flavors .. I cannot afford to waste anymore money on experimenting ..

From Sheba  all the way up to Blue Wilderness , they just sniff it and walk away .

Trust me , you do not  know these cats .. If they don't like it , they will NOT  eat it ..

I ended up feeding them their kibble anyway ..

I am just tired of it so I bought a few cans of Fancy Feast  and what do you know .

The brats licked their bowls clean .. Of course they will not eat the Classic Variety but they love the Grilled and I know

that is not ideal but it will have to do for now ..

I got berated on another site for feeding my cats junk but  they NEED   a wet diet , right ?

Maybe someday I will try to add a higher quality but for now they will eat Fancy Feast ..

Thank you for listening ..

Hey, it's better than Special Kitty or some others.  I hate it when people belittle others food choices for their furbabies.  I have an older lady friend that has 3 cats and she feeds Whiskas and Meow Mix dry kibble and people just let her have it for that.  She was in tears.  First of all, they don't know their circumstances and they don't know their cat.  Cats are picky.  And not everyone agrees with the raw movement or can afford the high dollar stuff.  So if they are picking the best food their cats love for their budget, I say it's all good and no one has the right to make them feel bad for not feeding the top dollar brands or THEIR way.  To each their own.  No reason to feel bad and do not let anyone make you feel bad.

In the end, you can spend as much money or have as much "premium" brand loyalty as you want, but the only good foods there are are the ones your cats will actually eat.
You've tried a lot, and who knows? Now that you've found a food they'll eat, you can try mixing others in to entice the cats to try new things. Their tastes may also change in the future.

Thank you so much . Yes I will definitely try later on .. I will let them settle down with their FF  for awhile .. They will not eat Pate of any Brand .

I think later I try   mixing in a little Weruva . They may like the stew like texture ..

Absolutely no judgement here
.. Its been a challenge in getting my little female to eat premium foods .. she just doesn't seem to care for any of them. So now and then I feed her some fancy feast, but also try and sneak a little premium food in here and there. She started off wanting only grilled chicken, but will now eat the pate varieties, so in your case, it might just be a matter of patience and trying again.

Interestingly, I have been gradually adding raw food to the rotation, and recently tried some Stella and Chewy's which is a freeze-dried raw, and offered some of this to everyone. I nearly fell over when I saw Maggie gobbling up this food, as I had tried other raw products which she didn't seem interested in either.
Just goes to show that sometimes it takes trying new things until you find a winner.

Mine won't eat pate either.  Isn't it funny how finicky cats are?!  I swear it's easier to feed my daughter than it is my cats!

Thank you very much . That helps a lot ..   I was looking @ Fresh Pet Vital at the feed store .  It is a moist kibble formula . I may buy  a small bag of that and sneak a few kibbles  in the bottom of their Fancy Feast ..

If you and/or your cats are stressed out because of the food you feed them, then that's not good.
So, I vote to feed them what they will eat and then they will be happ(ier). Less stressed.
And as has been suggested, sneak in some of the higher quality food. Tastes change.
The cats in my community cat colony love Fancy Feast, don't like Friskies any more, once they tasted FF. Yeah, they're picky too!

I fed my babies this morning and I gave them each  a 1/2 can of FF Classics & a 1/2 can of FF Grilled on top and they ate the whole thing .  YAY !

I know it is the same brand but at least they ate Pate ..

I am not going to try any new brands for  awhile but maybe later on I can find at least one better quality they will eat with the FF ..

2cats4me,

I'm sorry you felt you were "berated" on that other site...I think if you were new there, some folks will be blunt about certain things and be adamant about their opinions. I can sort of understand their view somewhat as a feline advocate, and I always want to encourage everyone to feed their cats canned food and to stay away from Purina, Science Diet, Royal Canin and the like. I know several people who feed their cats a heavy kibble diet, and yet they are able to afford the luxuries to eat almost every night out (not fast food), go on nice long far-away vacations, splurge on the latest tech toys, buy a new vehicle, etc, so you are head and shoulders above them for even attempting to do what you have!
I also think there are a lot of folks who feed their cats Friskies and or FF too! Some cat-owners could have also realized much later about the importance of feline nutrition, or their adult/senior cats just won't eat much else already.  If someone were to berate you again, I'd simply reply, "Dr. Pierson seems to believe feeding canned food is better than dry food, and right now this is the best I can do, thank you for your opinion." This way, they'll know you've already read her website and know a thing or two about nutrition and not just clueless or simply buying the cheap food simply because it's inexpensive and easily accessible. Dr. Pierson also notes:
Try not to drive yourself nuts when picking out a canned cat food.  The fact that you are feeding canned food and not dry food is 90% of the battle so just do the best that you can.

Virtually any store-bought food is better than what a cat is likely to be able to find scrounging in a residential area.

@EmandJee    Thank you so much .  .. I appreciate that .. I really have done the best I can .. The most important thing to me is that both cats are now on a 100% wet/can diet ..

Hi! Just wanted to butt in because I'm curious...you said  "of course" they won't eat the Classic kind of FF....I recently decided to start feeding my cat FF every so often as a treat (she has Friskies Pate otherwise) and the other day I gave her a can of the Classic kind and she did NOT care for it! Is there something different about this particular kind? I know every cat is different and every cat is certainly picky in their own sense...just curious! :)

And I'm surprised these other people berated you for feeding them FF. I thought FF was supposed to be....well, I dunno, fancy?

I have a can of some meat and cheese flavored kind to give her....I give her an itty bitty piece of a shred of cheese every so often (spoiled, what can you do? lol) so I know she'll loooove that

@thesighrye   , hello .. I don't  think it is specific to FF Classic ( pate ) .. They would not eat Pate in any brand or flavor that I tried .. They just do not care for the consistency of the pate ..

These cats are super picky .. I  don't feed them the FF Gravy Lovers  but they will eat the Grilled , Marinated Morsels , Chunky , Roasted ..

Well  , i guess everyone has different views on cat food quality and that is OK ..

I know my cats and what they like .. I would much rather have them on a 100 % wet diet eating Fancy Feast than no wet at all .. Which is how it would be if I did not give them what they want

which just happens to be  FANCY FEAST

Only thing is if you can mix pate in it will lower the carb count:)  I have a diabetic who is food controlled so I only buy pate and most of the cats just get a taste here and there.  I was feeding all wet for a while but we really took a hit in income and then took another and it is NOT possible with this many cats.  Even with sales and coupons your talking way more then we can afford.

All I can say is look for coupons as Fancy Feast does put them out often enough.

Yeah it is expensive .. They will not eat it mixed but they like the Fancy Feast Chunky which is basically pate that has chunks of meat in it .. They love that .

Did you ever try Merrick Cowboy Cookout? All 7 of my cats love it. I even mixed it with daves yesterday because they dont care for the daves.
