Hi everyone, I'm new here and a new cat owner. I am hoping somebody might have an idea about what is on my cats mouth before I rush to the vet. It appears the hair is gone and it's started to scab and looks like flaky skin. Any insight would be appreciated. She doesn't seem to be messing with it.

Hi wrsoles and welcome to the forum !

The Internet is beyond marvelous for helpful information about almost everything......

One of the notable exceptions however, is the diagnosis of issues like this.

The very best "insight" that I could provide you is that you need to have her examined by a competent feline Veterinarian - and, the sooner, the better for her (and, possibly, for your pocketbook).

Look for a cat-only (not cat-friendly) clinic nearby, or you can search here: American Association of Feline Practitioners    Don't check the red cat-friendly box at the bottom.

This looks very serious to me, could have a number of causes and have a number of serious implications.

Don't delay any longer.

Yeah we just noticed it today, taking her in to the vet in the morning.
