Sorry I'm a little late today.  I'm trying to summon the motivation to go grocery shopping.  It's my new Monday ritual!

What is the longest you have every stayed awake?

As a teen our church would have lock-ins and we'd try to stay awake all night.  I succeeded once.  So I think that time I did a full 24 hours.  Of course being all of 13 or so; it wasn't too hard on my body.  Now I'm grumpy with anything less than 7.  I did a few late-nighters last week to get some things put in the freezer for next winter.  I think I got 4-5 hours of sleep those nights.  Not bad compared to the days when my kids were newborns; but still not pleasant!
My coffee was extra good those days!!

oh Canada~
I did the Canadian Cancer Society's Relay for Life last year, so I woke up at 6am to go to work and desperately tried to nap after work (without success) and went to the relay from 6pm till 7am. Crashed the next morning at 8am, so about 26 hours. My first, likely last, and only all-nighter. Never stayed up the entire night in university, don't plan to in college. Sleep helps me function and I'd sooner choose that to produce good work than zombie-mode all night!

How timely this question is!  I didn't sleep last night, I have insomnia and fear oversleeping which increases anxiety and keeps me awake.  I'm too wired to nap, so I'll just wait until tonight.

The longest is fifty something hours awake, and it's happened more than once.  Thankfully that's been a while!

I believe when I was a teenager and was at a sleepover, we did the whole stay up all night thing and at one point, EVERYONE was asleep but me. 36hrs later, I was going to my next day's piano lesson a liiiiitttle woozy! lol.

That was a while ago though. The most recent was when I was battling a flood in my house, bailing water in a shop vac every half hour all night D: THAT was rough!

Sleep is good. Sleep is awesome. Sleep is beautiful. Please don't take it away, oh god!

When I was in college my helpful roommates gave me no-doze to stay awake overnight & study (had already been up since @8 am) After the exam the next morning, I came home and could not sleep, so same helpful roommates gave me sleeping pills! I had been up about 28-30 hours when the sleeping pills took effect, and I was told I talked, raved and cried in my sleep, sitting up dramatically several times.

20 hours was the longest I've ever gone. I'm a sleep-a-lot kind of person. Anything less than 7 and I'm just zombie mode for the rest of the day.

About 30  It was horrible as I worked then went to Moms to euthanize a cat*she was 2 hours drive) and by then I was at that beyond tired and could not sleep so ended up working another shift and doing some things in the morning.  I told my boss I would do register ONLY if I did credit cards/debit cards ONLY as I was terrified to touch the money.  I routinely will skip sleeping a night but know that it is not a biggie as I can fall asleep anytime I want as do not work outside home.

About 2-1/2 days, back when I worked a 7-day rotating shift. I awakened at 5:00 Monday morning and stayed awake all night Monday night, so that I could sleep during the day on Tuesday to get ready for my first day of night shift. Only for them to call me into work at 3:00 Tuesday afternoon before I had had a chance to get to bed. I worked 3 pm Tuesday afternoon to 7 am on Wednesday morning. I was so tired when I finally got home on Wednesday morning that I couldn't sleep and finally fell asleep around noon. It was not pretty.

My first job was as a midnight to dawn DJ in commercial radio on weekends. I was only 18 years old.  It was hard to go to bed at sunrise and once I just didn't.. I went back on air the next night having not slept and partied pretty hard... I never did that again.  I almost fell asleep on the turntables.
