Kittens off their food

I am fostering 3 kittens, and have bottle fed them since they were a day old.  they are 10 weeks now, and went in for surgery and a booster vaccine.  When I took them to the local humane alliance, they weighed nearly 3 lbs.  Since they came home on Thursday, I haven't been able to get one of the boys and the girl to eat much.  I haven't seen the girl eat at all, though she must have done so somehow or she wouldn't be walking and playing with her brothers.

She comes to the dish of food, sniffs it as if she's interested, licks it once or twice, then bounces away.  She doesn't show signs of nausea, just no appetite.

I feed them canned kitten food, and before surgery, they were eating 4x per day about 1/3 of 3 oz. can apiece.  I have a small bag of kitten kibble, but they don't know what it is and don't consider it food.

I'm taking the girl and one of her brothers back to the Humane Alliance to see if they can suggest anything.  What else should I be doing?  She's definitely lost weight.

What did the vet say?  It sounds like you're doing all the right things.  It's possible that they picked up a little virus while at the vet for their surgeries.

Serendipity and Zadok went to the vet late morning.  Serendipity, the girl, was severely dehydrated and weak.  She and her brother both received an antibiotic injection and a shot of vitamin B.  Dipity also received 25cc lactated ringers.

Since she came home, we gave her about another 15cc of fluids sub-q and, about an hour later, she asked for and received some canned food.  I also gave her a little KMR in a dish, which she drank along with water.  She used the kitty box and peed, but not much.

I just finished giving her slurry in a syringe, and she puked most of it up.  She kept down all the stuff she took willingly.

We'll give her more fluids tonight, but if she doesn't eat again willingly, we may be going to the emergency vet tonight.

Poor little girl.  You're doing all the right things.  Maybe offering her some plain meat baby food will help her??  I give my kitties plain meat baby food, either turkey or chicken, when they're off and they like it.  I usually add a touch of plain baby pedialyte to help with the hydration.  If she got sub-q fluids, she may feeling "full" and that might be making her not want to eat much.

I tried kitten crack with her (chicken and water baby food), but she was having none of it.  Nor would she take food with parmesan, dosed with chicken broth, or canned tuna.  I tried all my usual tricks to get a little one to eat.

Since the last post, we successfully gave her appx. 15 cc of fluid sub-q, then offered her food.  It was amazing - from a droopy kitten who could hardly be wakened to a perky little thing who willingly ate about a T of food in just a half hour.  Those fluids help.

Still droopy now, though.  More fluids in an hour, food afterwards.  We'll see how she does.

Have you called where they were fixed at to ask if there was any other sick cats/known outbreaks?  Go nice and slow as her body is better throwing up a little then a lot.

We did call the clinic, and no other reported symptoms.  She's been getting fluids, and I'm going to try feeding her some slurry in a syringe.  She didn't keep down the last stuff, but I'm hoping she will this.  I won't give her a lot, just enough to make sure she's getting some fluids and nourishment.
