My kitty loves sitting in my mothers old doll house and looking at everything. I'm saving up to get him a cat tree, but I'm not sure what type. He's a medium size, adult cat that loves scratching and sleeping. I'm looking for something on the small size and between $40 and $60. What should I get?

your boy might enjoy a cat tree that has a cubby house on it, something he can be in and peer out at things from. like this one --   there are many cat tree models to choose from though.

amazon has quite a few cat trees to choose from, and some are in your price range. it's helpful to see what amazon has that has free shipping too. i prefer armarkat cat trees because you can buy replacement parts for them, though i've never needed to replace any part of mine.

sisal wrapped posts are pretty popular with many cats. my cats have enjoyed scratching on their sisal wrapped posts on their cat trees, for years. some cats prefer vertical scratchers and some prefer horizontal scratchers, other cats like both. my cats like both vertical and horizontal scratchers.

Thank you! I think I'm gonna buy it! It's so inexpensive and has not one but two areas for him to scratch. My boy destroys scratching posts.

cjlovescats,

Just a friendly suggestion...the larger the cat tree, the more your boy would enjoy it. Getting the one suggested earlier is fine, but I personally think having a larger one would benefit him more. I got one made from a local builder on craigslist, brand new with sisal fabric throughout the post that looks like the same material on this: . I've had it for about 8 months now and there's hardly any wear on the post! I'm not totally sure, but I think regular nail trimmings can also help your scratching posts made from sisal rope last longer.

Best regards to you and your cats.

I suggest saving up a bit more money and purchasing a tree that is tall enough for him to stretch and scratch on (I suspect one that is at least 4.5-5 feet talk.)

I love Armarkat and Kitty Mansions brands.
Amazon, Chewy.com and Wayfair.com are great places to check price wise.

I had a similar issue and posted about this. Cat trees yay or nay. So many people posted a great selection of cat trees. Check it out! I hope you find something great. :)

i think this is a great idea. most/many cats love to be up high and to view their world from up high. i think it's worth saving a up a bit more so you can buy a taller cat tree that your boy will love and enjoy even more (than a shorter cat tree).

almost all of my snick's cat trees are tall.

Buy cheap old tall dresser. Paint as you like. Nail drawers open in a step tier design. Fill each drawer with pillows or blankets. It's a lovely piece of furniture that looks better than most cat trees. And cats love it.

I don't have a picture. I saw it and I loved it. Very simple...refurbish a tall dresser..4 or better 5 drawer.nail drawers open like steps...not too far but enough so it balanaces. Bottom drawer obviously opened the most. Stuff each open drawer with pretty blankets...pillows..etc..CATS LOVE IT..I don't have room in my house now. But trying to make space. The one I saw was beautiful and sat under a window. It will always look nice with fresh bedding.

We got a tall one at our Fleet Supply. Even with 7 cats, it isnt tore up. Was $80 on sale. It has a circle on top the cats take turns and love to sleep on top.
