My cat has lymphoma and is not expected to live long. Recently wrote vet about concern about only her belly becoming much bigger and a weight gain of 2 lbs within a week. Wrote about what the swelling could be, wondered if maybe caused by other drug interactions with prednisolone, or another rupture in intestine or something. vet replied this >I am worried like you for Chalupa's weight gain. I worry there is fluid build-up. Not sure how she is still eating. She is a fighter. Sepsis/Peritonitis are real possibilities at some time. I have to rely on you to judge her quality of life, I think at some point soon you will need to make the decision. I am sorry to say that<

Chalupa was vomiting for few days, but stopped and started eating again, not much but a little. She is still salivating but not drooling. She also still wanting to go outside, we sit outside as much as possible and she usually starts purring and falls asleep. Her belly is still big, but not bigger, and maybe slightly smaller at least on one side. Really don't want to let her go right away, but want dr to help her if she can, know that if I bring her in though, probably won't bring her back home. Not sure what to do. I know what I should, but not sure I'm ready I guess, and is she? I've seen her a lot sicker.

I wish I had words of wisdom for you, but I don't.  I did want you to know that I'm sorry you and Chalupa are going through this.

Thanks for reply, appreciate you sharing  kind thoughts. Mostly seemed to be encouraged to have her euthanized by those who know her diagnosis and hear her symptoms. Thing is if they see her, it's different, she's a bit livelier than she sounds with all the scary things going on with her. If she started vomiting non stop and couldn't eat, the decision would be a lot easier.

I'd ride it out as long as possible, until her quality of life starts to suffer.  I had to make that decision when my older kitty was being ravaged by renal failure.

Vet and tech confirmed muscle wasting and fluid build up, tumor was bigger. We agreed it might be best to put her to sleep. Though we all agreed she actually didn't look bad compared to last time. It was easier to be there and do it , I stayed with her until the end. Going home was harder after though, had to leave. Im outside in the moonlight where Chalupa would prefer to be.
Thank you for your support. Wish you the best.

Gosh, I am so very sorry!  I know this was a hard decision, but it was the most loving decision you could've made.  I know you're hurting and missing your baby.  I'll ask the mods to close this thread and when you're ready, please post a tribute in the Crossing the Bridge forum.

Heart felt tears for you, your hard work is over now.  You did everything possible to make the life of Chalupa better, being a good friend to your cat and giving you cat a happy home.  All the best to you.  Sweet dreams Chalupa
