Can prednisolone be ground up fine and mashed into kitty's food?  or does that do something to its potency?  Anyone?

That's a great question and  i have no idea.  Can I ask why you;re asking?  Having trouble pilling him? Have you tried Pill pockets?

Pred doesn't taste bad so it might be an option, why don't you call your vet and ask them and then post the answer here?

Stephen:  since Obi has GI issues, I hesitate to give him anything but his novel protein foods - so I have not done the pill pockets.  He does not like having two halves of a 5 mg pred pill shoved down his throat every day...and I am sure that he will be on pred for the rest of his life.  So, to address the pill pocket issue further, and my post, I see the new vet with Obi next Saturday, and I will ask her and post the response.

There is a novel protein pill pocket for dogs only but my vets routinely use it for cats. Even if it is t tasty enough I've found just coating the pill with some pill pocket helps when pulling g because it's perceived as food.

HI, Stephen, thank you for the suggestion...what is the canine novel protein pill pocket and where do you get it?

My cat with Lymphoma is getting liquid Prednisolone,  I wrap her in a towel, make sure to wrap the towel under her chin because she likes to spit out the food.  I then have a wet wash cloth to clean off any Pred that gets on her chin hair cause it tends to dry hard.  I knew Franny would not tolerate pills.  Good luck

Thanks, Everyone.  Obi is pretty easy to pill but he doesnt like it.  "Novel protein" for him would have to be rabbit, lamb - maybe salmon because he has not had a lot of it, but he has had some.  I can tell you he takes pills much easier than being syringed.
