Hi everyone!
I'm a new human to two adopted former stray female cats - Aloof (the mom) and Small (the kitten), so named because of their personality.
Aloof was a snobbish cat who used to roam around our apartment. I used to feed her by the door and she would eat, until later on she would get inside and roam around the room. We could not touch her initially because she was always ready to scratch. Later on, when she did allow to touch us, it would only be for a short while... And then she'd be on the defensive again. She got pregnant several times. We adopted her kitten, Small, who is now living with us. After giving birth to Small, she got pregnant again... She could not give birth on her own with the latest kitten, so I had to bring her to the vet. The kitten died inside her, and Aloof had to have a c-section. She's still at the vet now, already spayed, and we found out she's around 6 years old. I have a post about her here (need advice on post-cs care):
Small was born around February this year (only kitten). She's been with us most of her life, staying both indoors and outdoors. She's very active, loves to catch roaches inside the apartment, running after them and playing with them until they're dead. She loves climbing everywhere and jumping at anything that moves. I'm teaching her to stop biting, which she is slowly learning, although there are still times when she thinks my hands and toes are toys and would bite them.
I'll post photos soon. For now, I'm just so grateful to have found a cat community I can share my experiences with.
