I think my feral cat has an abcessed tooth

Kitty is most of the way tamed, but it took 2 years (she is a true feral).  I can't pick her up very well (she sort of freaks out and I do get scratched as she jumps off careless for my skin) and I don't trust her not to bite me if I give her medicine or put her in a carrier or hold her for a vet. She loves when I pet her and play string with her and will jump up into my lap and stay for pets, but too young and energetic to lap sit at all.  She lives in an outbuilding (outdoors in the daytime, lock her up at night to protect her from coyotes, fishers etc) and is almost ready for the house, but she has been a serious project for a long time.  The lap sitting and recliner project were the latest ones, plus getting her used to me talking on the phone.

OK, so I think she has an abcessed tooth. She has had eye discharge in one eye for a very long time, probably since I had her, and the discharge was clear for the longest time and recently had been discolored and/or reddish (I am color blind, but I think it is reddish).  Now she is drooling on on the same side, and does not want her face touched on that side and is less friendly.  She will still play, but not as good as normal.  Now, I looked up about treatment, and it looks like clavamox for 2 weeks. I am not confident this cat will let me give her that drug for 2 weeks. I have used Baytril as a preventive when I had a cat with mouth cancer a few years back (just to keep the infection down while I gave him pain relief so he had a few more weeks). I wonder if I can use that on her food or something.  I have a very accurate scale.  I wonder if the vet can give her a shot of antibiotic?

any advice on how to handle treating a half tamed cat for soemthing like this? I don't know if I can handle her or not - I haven't trained her for these things and she is not all complacent like my house cats.  I probably can't get her to the vet until Monday, since it would be a surgery and I doubt there are openings tomorrow.  Thanks!!!

Thanks for looking after Kitty and being a caring person.
Based on your description, I do think Kitty needs to be taken to the vet as soon as possible, however you get her there.
Assuming your vet will give you a prescription for clavamox or Baytril, you can get it formulated into a flavored liquid. In my experience, cats like anything from bubblegum to tuna-chicken flavored medications; I put it in Ritz' raw food but wet canned food will work even better.
Can you keep her indoors during the recovery process--away from your other cats? (And spayed if not already done so).
Good luck!

I called the vet and they say I must bring the cat in for an exam before they will prescribe antibiotics, which must be given twice a day. Then next week I take her in to have the tooth pulled. Is this the way it's done for a feral, REALLY?  They say I can't just bring the cat in to get the tooth pulled, then treat with antibiotics after. I went ahead and made the appointment for this afternoon and I'll go put the carrier in her building so she can sniff it out.

She seems to be in even more pain this morning but purrs when I pet her carefully so I don't hurt her head.  she doesn't want to come out of her cubby, but she did eat her wet food (I gave her pate so she wouldn't have to chew).

I have a really nice outbuilding for her and can keep her confined to a 15 x 15 room in that building. But unfortunately there are many things stored in there such as plywood she can get behind.  I have no idea how it's gonna go with giving her medicine and I hope I can get something to mix in her food.  Maybe it will go better than I think because we really are buddies, but I have perhaps been too slow to incrementally train her.

tx so much!!
