I have a new kitty, he's now about 6 months or so.

I make some pasta the other day and put some garlic cloves in the sauce but removed them after and left them on a plate in the kitchen. I left my cats with my mom but the little one always comes in the kitchen to beg for food (even though they have always have kitty food in the living room) and when I got back, my mom told me he ate ALL of them. Should I take him to the vet? Apart from smelling like garlic he seems fine, I haven't noticed any changes in his behaviour...

are you sure? Vet sites state its toxic to cats
Yeah, I read the same thing... I'm not sure how much he ate though... Also, he does have a nasty habit of eating just about anything :|

I think it's because he is a rescue and was starving when I found him :(

this is my opinion and you dont have to follow it but I would take my kitten just incase, especially when multiple sites state its toxic, especially on a baby.

yes I am sure. my dad is a retired vet and I have worked in the field pretty much my whole life. You dont want to give it in excess but it doesnt affect them like onions do. I have never seen a pet with problems from eating garlic. onions yes I have seen quite a few, but not garlic. It is in a lot of different supplements as well that are made for animals.

Garlic is toxic to cats. I causes a breakdown of blood cells leading to anemia and can result in death. The signs can take as long as a few days to show up.
