So for 5 days now I have been treating my 12 week old kitten Dante that has a URI with ether herpes or chlamydia , I was given eye ointment aswell as 2 oral meds and nutrition supplement I have been to 3 vets for Dante, I even got him a humidifier (warm mist) how long before I see him get better? I recieved the eye ointment yesterday, but eye is still red, hes eating well and pooping and peeing, he plays, but mostly is sleeping. The meds I have are:

1. Ointment (eye):eek:xytetracycline
2. Oral (1 am and pm): Clavamox 0.3 ml
3. Oral (once a day): Doxycycline 1ml

Hes symptoms are:

Clear liquid out of eyes
Left eye (inner eyelid) red and puffy
And sneezing

No other symptoms yet... Is their anything else I can do for him? Or is it simply rest and meds... how long before his eye isnt puffy? Please help

I'm sorry you and your cat are going through this. I have no experience with your problem. Hopefully someone will come online soon who can help you.

keep in mind I got the immune supplementl from my vet on July 8th, Sunday I saw the emergency animal clinic then on Monday I made an appointment with the vet for Tuesday and that's when he gave me the supplement, I guess I haven't given it much time to take effect

Gosh it sounds like you're doing everything possible for him.  Maybe he just needs more time?

sadly I think you're right I'm just an impatient young girl who wants her cat to instantly be better like magic, lol I just wanna make sure I'm not missing any options to help him I will spend anything to make sure he's OK, I'm glad you think I did everything I need to cuz sometimes I second guess myself and feel like I haven't done enough...

Is he still on the Clavamox?  If you're not seeing any improvement on that, I'd call and ask for a different antibiotic, but not Convenia.  He's on all the "right" meds, but sometimes these things take time, unfortunately.  If you want, you can ask the vet to run the Real PCR URD test and see if it's one of those infections.

The lysine (enisyl which is lysine spelled backwards) can take a couple of weeks to really see the effects.  As long as the discharge from either the eyes or nose is clear, you're good.  If it turns yellowish or green, then he's got an infection brewing.

Put him in the bathroom, turn on the shower on hot.  Stay with him, even if it means you have to strip down and sweat.  After a few minutes, carefully try to remove the nasal crusts that you can reach.  If he cries, stop.  You don't want to accidentally rip off skin.  If this doesn't work, you may need to take him to the vet and let them clean him up and have them show you how to maintain him until he's well.

Keep us updated!  And cats are nose breathers so calling the vet is a good idea.
