Hi

I am really pressed for time but basically I foster 10 kittens and posted a few questions here before about possible distemper and whatever is happening to their skin.

No distemper of course but coccidia which would trigger a false positive on a snap test, so I heard. And negative test for scabies or mange. Possible flea allergy but I gave them Revolution at 6 mg per kitten (0.1 ml of liquid per kitten which I got out of buying a few adult tubes - big time money saver).

Well now: coccidia which I pretty much expected anyway.

So, I got Albon from the vet that should be given for 30 days.
It's not a great option for my kittens because they soon will go to their forever homes or back to the shelter when foster time is over (when they are 2 pounds).

I heard Ponazuril is very effective and only takes a few days but comes in a big horse tube and has to be diluted.

Please any experience?.. Safety concerns?... Is it Rx?... Where can I buy it w/o Rx?... (I'm broke)
I can figure out the dosage I guess like I did with Revolution and calculate precise amount needed for each kitten.

So any experience or advice please share here I would appreciate that immensely.

I would love to stop that diarrhea fest asap of course and get kittens adopted and loved w/o dealing with nasty parasites that turns off adopters plus can spread it to their own pets... That's awful to even think about...

Thank you

So sorry your thread has not been answered as of yet!!! We try to get to them all and extend our apologies to you. I am not experienced enough in kitten care to offer any answers but wanted to bump up your thread in case someone else knows and chimes in here. :cross:

I did find this link http://www.sheltermedicine.com/node/394 and it appeared to be very informative. I would be careful, though, giving meds without consulting the vet first though. At the very least, via phone. Hopefully your vet will understand that these kittens are rescues and you are doing the best you can for them without going broke in the meantime.
