Whilst staying at the Cleopatra Superior in Kos during June this year we came across a mother and her 3 tiny kittens, not in the best of health.  Over the next 3 weeks between the two of us we fed them 4 times a day, made sure they had fresh water and generally kept an eye out for them.  We then met other like-minded people who shared the feeding/caring.  When looking into the life of a cat in Kos it appears that at the end of the season most of the hotels poison them, those that don't get poisoned often starve to death as the hotels and restaurants close for winter.  Kittens born in the Spring very rarely make it through the Winter.  We couldn't let this happen to this lovely little family of cats.  Therefore myself and my friend Bev decided that we would bring them back to the UK, not an easy task.  We have eventually managed to find someone who is willing to take them whist we can get them vaccinated, wormed and obtain passports for their flights home.  At present we are still waiting to hear from airlines but have been told that this can be expensive, he cheapest quote we have at present is £1716 for the 4 cats.  We would therefore ask if you can donate anything at all to help these poor kittys it would most certainly change their lives for the better. A facebook page has been set up called "Cleopatra Superior Cats" where we update our progress.

Many Thanks

Ginny & Bev xxxx

From the Mod Team Regarding Pleas for money:

Cats are a huge responsibility. Anyone who thinks otherwise, should not have one in their life. They are dependent on us for everything from providing a place to eat, to also providing vet care.

Anyone who has cats knows that they can and do get ill. Your best defense is to plan for that to happen before it does, and store monies away in preparation.

If you read about a plight of an animal on the internet and your heart is drawn to help. Check out the story thoroughly. Google the vet's name or call Directory Assistance in the city and be sure this is a legitimate claim.

Do not blindly send money into a paypal account no matter how heart-wrenching the story. Instead reach out to the member and ask for the vet's name and phone number, and arrange to send the money there for the specific needs of the cat in question.

If that information cannot be provided- you have your answer. Report the post to a moderator so that it can be removed for not being on the level.
