I officially have a new edition to the family his name is Dante, we adopted him from a rescue group last saturday, on sunday his left eye became puffy, we took him to the emergency animal clinic and they stated it must be a respiratory illness as well as possibly herpes they gave me drops for his eyes as well assome oral medicine for his respiratory illness, we are now on Wednesday and his eye seems to get worse rather than better and he was sneezing alot more than normal, I took him back to the emergency animal clinic and they stated that it could be chlamydia so they gave me a new medicine and changed the drops to ointment as well as give him a I.V of liquids, I am really concerned and wanting him just to get better I'm not sure what to do at this point and I fear he is leading to death I just want somebody to console me and say that he will not die, I am giving him all his medicine that he needs, his appetite is still good as well as him peeing and pooping, he is sleeping a lot lately and I hope that is a good sign, I'm wanting to cry but my eyes are all dried up from the crying I did this morning I just really need somebody to tell me that everything will be ok or give me insight if somebody has experienced this.... if your words will help I just want Dante to get better and be the happy bouncing kitten that he needs to be.

Did they give you an antibiotic for the upper respiratory infection or just eye drops/ointment?  Also, did they give you any nose drops?

Is he eating normally and using the box normally?

he's eating normally and peeing and pooping they gave me an ointment for the eyes and 2 oral meds, they also gave me Enisyl-F, I even bought a humidifier to help with his slighty stuffy nose :(

I think at this point, I would try and get a second opinion from another vet...

I didn't realize you had seen two different vets at the emergency clinic, and your own vet.  Sounds like you are doing the best possible for Dante!  I'll send good mojo his way, in the hopes that will help!

This might be a silly, kinda obvious question but when a kitten is sick, should I let him sleep as much as possible? Will that help him get better faster

I don't know if "let him" is the right word.  They will sleep more because their bodies are trying to fight the infection.  Have you noticed any change, good or bad, in his eye?  How's his behavior?  Is he playing less than normal or about the same?

he sleeps alot, not so much purring anymore because he sees me as the medicine giver, his eye is the same not better, but not worse. He plays when hes in the mood especially when I take out his fav toy. He sleeps on me alot and loves to be next to me if I dont have medicine

I saw your new thread and was considering asking a mod to merge the two.  :)  I answered the new thread as well.
