That hole for your furkids is great!

My sister did something similar with a large pantry in her kitchen. The bottom of the pantry is a litter box. There's a hole cut out in the side of the pantry for the cats to get in and out; there's a small door there so that we can open the door to clean the litter and take the box out. You wouldn't really know it was there, unless you were really looking. And we're going to do that when we redo our bathroom....with a hole and opening in the bottom of the cabinet for the cats' litter box.

When we moved, the only cat we had was Hydrox, The Old Coot. We emptied out one of the bedrooms first, then we closed that bedroom door and left Hydrox in the bedroom. Moved everything else out of the house. Once we got everything in the new house and everybody left, I went back to the old house and brought Hydrox home. That way, he had the run of the new house right from the beginning and could investigate as much as he wanted. He sniffed around, investigated all the rooms, came back out to the living room, hopped up into the bow window, and sprawled out in the sun. And that was that!

Hope it's going well with Monet and Cassie! And you, too!

Monet is as predicted- hissing and growling. He's holes up in the closet. Cassie is a bit braver and only comes out when I am around.

Almost unpacked- I just have to organize. So tired!!

Can't sleep- Cassie is not letting me sleep! She braved it from the closet to my bed. I think Monet is still in the closet.

Bedroom AC unit isn't getting cold either- I can't sleep when it's warm!

Oh no, it's always something with a new place.  I take it you have the individual units with one in the living room as well.

It's been warmish and humid around here and, last night, I had some trouble sleeping. I hope you can get your AC repaired without a lot of hassle.

Give the kids a couple days and they'll soon be racing around the place like they're always lived there!

Monet had an accident next to my bed. Thank goodness it was only on a bag, but man the room stinks. I put a litter box over there. I hope he warms up to the new place quickly.

Monet did eat this morning and part of his dinner until something startled him. Cassie has not eaten yet and I don't think she went to the bathroom either. Right now she's exploring the bedroom more and nuzzling to me. Monet's still under the bed growling.

Tomorrow I am not having company.. I think with the noise and my parents helping me out all day yesterday and today is not helping them at all.

When we moved in February not one of my 5 cats came out of the bedroom until everyone helping us was gone and stayed gone for a day.
Now the cats own the place, they've picked their spots and have never been happier.

Kitties do really hate change.  Both of mine hid for a full day the last time I moved and my little girl hissed at my little boy before they found their respective hiding spots.

I had to take Julie into a room by herself and sit with her to get her to eat after we moved.  Maybe that's worth a try?

I told anyone who wanted to stop by tomorrow not to. I think my cats need peace and quiet. My parents were here all day yesterday and today making a lot of noise (my dad was fixing things and putting pictures on the wall today, I am sure the hammering did not help). I'm happy to say Cassie is comfortable enough to sit on top of my bed and not hiding in the closet anymore. Monet's still hiding under the bed.

Tomorrow's going to be a quiet day. I am going out for a while to my old apt to clean it up and take things I couldn't yesterday. Give the cats some peace.

here's some photos. I still need to organize a little more, but I am in! I still need blinds on all windows, and a rug for the living room and bedroom.

Things have really come together, it already looks like a home.  I can tell that someone with a creative, artistic flare put it together.  It looks really nice.

Thank you both! I am happy with it.

A bonus pic- Cassie is viewing the outside for the first time here. I hope Monet takes her as a guide and move out too

Looks awesome!  A total transformation from what it looked like before. I'm loving the colour of the kitchen wall (orange-ish?)  I'm also noticing that you didn't put the aquarium on that wall near the entrance hall as you initially planned.   I actually like where you put it in the corner, much better.

Congrats on having moved in!  I'm sure your kitties will settle in and will feel right at home once all the excitement and visitors calm down.  Love the hole in the wall for the litter box!

oh, wow! the difference from the "before" to the "after" photos is very striking. you really did a wonderful job bringing out the......potential (not the word i'm trying to think of, but close) of your new home.

love the bonus photo of cassie viewing her new outside!

It looks wonderful!  You must be so excited to be in your own place--it's been a journey to get this finalized!  Smart move to give the kitties a little peace and quiet today to let them get settled in a bit.

It looks great! It must feel good to finally be settling in after all you went through to get there. Congratulations!  Poor Monet, he'll get there.

thanks all! I just need to touch up some paint.. don't feel like doing that today, lol.

Monet had another accident under the bed. Stores are closed now so I can't run out to get a feliway diffuser or anything. I didn't think he'd be this bad. I tossed some cat nip toys and treats under the bed for him.
