My 6 year old cat sheds a lot. She vomits a perfect hair plug (ball) every three days. She grooms a lot. I brush her and feed her small amounts frequently of high grade food. She came back from vet with a healthy report. Pee and poo good. No other signs of illness. Perfect hair plug in same spot always at night. I give her and all the cats vets best hairball relief digestive aid every day. It does contain slippery elm. Should I be concerned or is this just the way she is. Hairballs are 90 percent hair.

I have six short-haired cats and am so lucky in that I have no issues with hairballs BUT they all get a lion cut in the Spring. :anon: AND - I begin using the furminator on them once they start to grow out which is by June but then the worst is behind them. Still I gently furminate weekly. I would not be too worried if the vet says she is otherwise healthy, she is eating, playing, drinking, acting normal and not losing weight. IF she is losing weight on top of the vomiting hairballs then further tests need to be done. She could have a slight blockage beginning in her digestive tract made up of hair thus blocks more hair from passing through and it inevitably comes back up.

I have used SEB, Vet's Best AND the Egg Yolk Lecithin for hairballs in the past. Will pull up a thread about the Egg Yolk Lecithin which you may want to try with her. http://www.thecatsite.com/t/266178/...using-egg-yolk-lecithin-to-dissolve-hairballs
