I took in a kitten so called who had been in heat was here for a week but left then came back after 3 days. She looked so thin like she was starving. No fleas on her no ticks seems very happy but is thin. she is the cutest cat.. I cannot get her fixed till aug 4. Not sure if she had any shots but appears healthy. She looked well kept when I got her I did put ads up etc no response. So the dilemma is I want her to get use to the other cats. They have seen her through a large screen I put up at the door. She just growls and Hisses then is fine. My cats are not that bothered. BUT with no shots can I try to get them together?? I am low on money and the welfare society is willing to fix her etc but they are booked. I find no real harm in introducing her more so everyone can have the run of the house. I had to take my 3 year old cats room away from him so I feel bad. He wants it back. I have a small house and not tons of rooms. I feel the quicker if they all agree we get them together the happier.

Thank you for rescuing this little one.  First off, I would not allow your cats the new one to be together until the kitten has been to the vet. She will need a clean bill of health and you do not want her to pass along illness or disease to your other cats.  Is there a way you could get her in for a check up before the spay?  She may have worms and you do not want your other cats to pick them up or you will end of having to treat them all. If you cannot get her in until Aug, I would continue to keep them separated through the screen door.

Here are some links on introducing cats.  You can start some of the steps before the vet visit, but I would not allow them out and about until after the vet.

It certainly is a dilemma. I do not have the money to run to different vets as they are so costly. What bothers me the place that is going to spay her and do shots is doing EVERYTHING all at once. Fiv combo, rabies, distemper, worming and spaying isn't that too much all at once for a cat?? If I could afford going to a vet as well before her spay I would? I have called everywhere. I took the cat in or else a coyote would have and now its so hard to find help! No wonder why people just dump their animals. I would never do that. But vet prices are so high?

Vet costs are so very high.  It's fine for her to have checkup, shots and spay all in one day.  It's what most low cost spay/neuter clinics do.  I have taken 5 ferals in and it works out fine.

Since you can't get her checked out sooner, just keep her separated from your other cats.  I know it's a pain.  Yet if your current cats get sick, you will have more vet bills to deal with.  You cannot tell the health of a cat just by looking.

Maybe you could see if you can get added to a cancellation list.
