I've done a lot of research into what I can and cannot use. I'd like to avoid the straight paper method, as I have a lack there of. Wingnut is I am taking a wild guess 3 weeks old. She has back teeth but her eyes are still blue. She's started to potty on her own, the poopin's I'm still doing stimulation for though. I have an extra box I keep in the living room where she's with me, and when she's about to squat I put her in there until she does her business. Last night she finally tried to cover it. So! I know, no clumping litter, and avoid clay. I live in a rather... unpopulated area of the US where there is more corn than people, which means our stores are limited. So far, the only litters I've found that might do the trick are Feline Pine and Purina's Yesterday's News. Any thoughts on either of these? Or other suggestions? I'm not above ordering litter online. Both of these are non-clump, no clay and I believe both are pellet-type litters. They are also (and most important) dust free. I'm certainly in no real hurry to get her potty trained but I want some real world opinions and kitten experiences and I am trying desperately to be as best prepared as possible before these things should be happening.

Have you tried the corn litters? or wheat based litters? They both clump but say they are safe for young kittens more so than the clumping clay litters. Since you have more corn than people in your area - maybe the corn litters will be popular. :lol3: ;) I have never tried the Pine litters because I think they would be too irritating to my cats sensitive noses - the pine. Yesterday News would be another one you could absolutely try. I have yet to try that one either though. So can't offer any experience with either of those two brands. Currently I use Dr. Elsey's and Arm/Hammer Clump/Seal. Dr. Elsey's does have a kitten attract litter which I would think to be safe for "kittens".

I was looking for the corn litter, but I hadn't seen any the last time I was out. I'm going out again this weekend to finish getting everything and this time no kitten with me, I will look again. If I can't find it, I think I'm going to go with Yesterday's News if the ingredients line up to nothing harmful. Thank you so much for the advice!

My only suggestion is that to make sure her littler box is short enough for her to get into on her own as she becomes more independent. A big kitty litter box will be difficult for her to get into and may cause you some problems (pee/poo floor clean up duty).

I hope you find something that works for your little one!
