(Mods, if this should not be a new thread, please move it accordingly, I was not sure...)

I have been posting about Obi.  Mittens is my other cat, the one in my avatar.  This week so far she has thrown up two big hairballs.  What's going on, is it contagious??( I dont really mean that question).  Since this just started, she was a very infrequent hairball vomiter, I dont even know what the first step(s) should be.  I have been brushing both cats  twice a day with the furminator, added SEB to Mittens' morning food ( increased it to 1/2 tsp from 1/4); and added in 1/2 Vets Best hairball remedy.  I may give her the other 1/2 tab in her evening meal.  Does this seem like a good plan?  is there more that I should be doing?  I am not done with Obi, for heaven's sake!  I have an appt for him at t he vets (new vet) in a week and a half.  Mittens is six and has never really had anything done to her other than a routine exam....

Yes, thanks, I am starting slow with Mittens - giving her 1/4 tsp of the SEB and on ly one-half of the VB for now.  I know about EYL, too...havent done that yet....

Hey, you wanna know something weird? My girl Abby, who never throws up hairballs, threw one up over the weekend. And I just found another one today, which I am pretty sure is from her due to the size. Two hairballs in less than 72 hours. What the heck is going on? I started her on my psyllium-marshmallow-slippery elm blend Sunday, but apparently it hasn't kicked in yet. Or isn't working for her. If she throws up another one, I may switch her to just a small amount of psyllium, as I've seen that clear hair out of her.

WEll, I hesitated on the Vets Best because Obi threw up the one and only time I gave it to him...So I started Mittens on one half a tablet this morning.  I will continue with that.  The VB has psillium in it, doesnt it?  And isnt that odd, that we both have cats who never throw hairballs, that threw up two in the last couple of days??

I was worried about the chicken in Vet's Best, which is why I blended the active ingredients in roughly equivalent proportions. Each Vet's Best tablet has 50 mg psyllium. Yes, very weird!!

Yes, it is!  AND, I have been brushing both cats with the furminator - twice a day!
