How old were you when you lost your first tooth?  Were you excited?  Scared?  Did you get a visit from the Tooth Fairy?

A friend of mine recently told me that her almost 5 year old lost his first baby tooth!  I'm pretty sure I was 6; but closer to 7 when I finally lost one.  I had a Snuggles bear (the mascot from the fabric softener company) that had a little tooth shaped pouch to put the tooth.  I did get money from the tooth fairy but I honestly don't remember now if it was a quarter or something bigger like a dollar.  I had friends losing teeth before me so I was plenty excited about it.  A little scared too though.  A little girl in my class lost her tooth during the night and swallowed it they think.  I didn't want that to happen to me.  It didn't.
I remember one of my very last teeth to come out happened when we had company for the weekend.  I was pretty much over the "tooth fairy" thing; but the company included a little girl who was VERY excited about it.  My Mom didn't have any small bills or quarters even.  I made out VERY well that time!  I think I got a whole $20!!  In retrospect; I'm surprised my Mom let me keep all that!!

My 4 year old keeps telling me her teeth are falling out.  They aren't.  Nice try; but please kid...do not grow up any faster than you have to!
And then my friend's son went and lost one at this age....  boy I'm not ready for these years to begin!  Fortunately this friend lives in another state so it's not like my 4yo can pick up on her son's excitement!

The only bit of excitement for me at this point is that I'm 90% sure I still have that bear to use with my kids!

Haha, that's so cute.

I think I was 6 or 7 too. I don't recall keeping a lot of my baby teeth, but I did put them under the pillow and get a quarter for some. There were times that either my parents were busy or I didn't tell them right away so I'd wake up to the same tooth under my pillow. I think I got the idea the tooth fairy wasn't real anyway (like the time I found a wrapped boxed Barbie Doll gifted to me from "SC", and my first assumption was that it was from my brother whose initials are SC, rather than Santa Claus). A lot of my baby teeth had cavities anyway.. who wants to keep those gross things? They did teach me to take care of my adult teeth though!

I specifically remember my brothers fully taking advantage of my ability to sing with accuracy "awrl I want for Chrithtmath ith my two frwont teeth" because they happened to fall out around the same time. At least it was amusing for them.

I was 7 1/2. But I was a late teether; I didn't get my first tooth until I was 13 months old. Lots of hair but no teeth! I was a little scared and would not let anybody pull it out. It finally fell out when I bit into a sandwich. I never believed in the Tooth Fairy. I did keep my first lost tooth for awhile but it started to smell bad so I threw it away.

Around 6 years old. I got two dollars!

My mom was the one that kept all by baby teeth
Still has them, kept safely in a special case.

I was excited for the most part throughout those years of loss teeth, but at the same time, I remember being miserable at certain points. Like feeling so much pain and awkwardness when trying to eat corn on the cob! Amongst many other foods and treats that I enjoyed but couldn't really have. I was so sad lol

They grow so fast, don't they?

I think I was about 5 or 6 when I lost my first tooth.  I got $1 in my special tooth fairy pillow!

My kid decided to save up his teeth and put them all under the pillow at once, hoping for a big windfall, including the tooth that his entire Grade 1 class fell to their knees in the gym to find. I began by rinsing, then putting teeth in a film canister. I opened it to drop in a fresh tooth and there were worms! It was so gross. Rinsed well again, filled container full of vodka and haven't looked in closely since. He's now in his 20s and has yet to ask for the teeth. (Hoping he doesn't expect interest.)

I don't remember losing my baby teeth. I sort of remember my sister explaining to me what was going on, but it's pretty fuzzy.

But, when my daughter was 7, she had TWO rows of teeth, just like a shark! Her baby teeth hung on while her adult teeth came up. It was pretty freaky, but according to our dentist, not uncommon. She liked to pull and twist on the loose ones, so we never had to do anything in particular. She got a tooney ($2 coin) for each tooth. My sister (see above) had sent her a little tooth fairy pillow so she'd put the tooth in that each time, put it under her pillow, and then stay awake as long as she could in order meet the tooth fairy.

Oh my gosh that's hilarious!!  I believe my mother has all of my teeth in a film canister too. I was just thinking how we don't have those now. I'll have to find something different.  Maybe a baby food jar. lol

I don't remember losing them, but I do remember how funny it felt to have a gap in your teeth! I did have the tooth fairy come to visit.
One night I was checking under the pillows, and dropped my tooth. I was so upset when I couldn't find the tooth! My mom had to comfort me telling me that the tooth fairy will find it! She did and left me some change. I think it was a dollar at most

My nieces gets $10 for first tooth, then $5 after. Seesh, inflation! LOL

My mom saved my teeth.. I am not sure if she still has them or not though.

Did yours grow in straight? I thought our daughter's teeth would be a train wreck, they were so crowded with the double teeth, but when all the baby ones fell out her teeth looked pretty good.
Yep!  I never had braces.  There are 2 on the bottom that aren't perfect but its not noticeable.  I have more issues because I never lost all the baby teeth.  Or got wisdom teeth; which there is no room for anyway.  I've broken bits off 2 molars because of crowding; yet they stayed straight.

LOL, I was thinking that too! And @SwampWitch's daughter got $2 per tooth too!? I was lucky to get $0.25 for a tooth, and I think that only lasted for three or four teeth before my parents or I had lost interest. All these kids are getting paid out the wazoo for a single tooth and I never made more than $3 for the entire mouth! Is this how kids these days get their own iPods and smartphones? No such luck "back in my day".

I'm sure our Grandparent's generation had similar thoughts about us; looking for quarters instead of pennies!  Or for looking for anything!

I have no idea how old I was when I lost a tooth or how I felt but I do remember the tooth fairy.
In England we got a silver sixpence for one tooth. I believed in the tooth fairy up until my last tooth fell out. In the morning I looked under my pillow and my dad had left 6 big coppers of one penny each. Later he apologised and said he hadn't got a sixpence.
My children didn't sleep with pillows. They put their teeth in their shoes
I don't remember how much I gave them.
