Still not caught it or got it near me but I've started bringing cat in with me when I'm there, and giving him strokes and having him chirp and chatter at me. What this is doing is making the kitten new cry at cat, who doesn't really pay a lot of attention back. He stares a lot and kitten stares a lot, then they look away. The only big difference is that cat is starting to act like the big man to ME, hissing at me if in front of cat and i make him do something. It's ok I am still boss, i made him understand.

So anyway; here is how the kitten is beginning more interested.

Before cat came in last night...

then cat started looking...

and then cat jumped on the bed with me and we had strokes.

and kitten did this, and mewed a lot

I tried to get my older cat to the vet and he combusted out of the cat carrier like he was the incredible hulk. He uses his carrier as a rest spot, but didn't like it moving... sigh. Need to buy a new carrier. I spoke to the vet and they also do house calls, I am just concerned it will cost a fortune. Fiance is home this weekend, he can help me!

Kitten is higher up than Cat, but as Cat is older it is his right to high ground. Also kitten is on Cat's territory, Cat is ruler of the land in the house and kitten is intruder that has challenged Cat's domination of territory by entering to his land, so that means a challenge is in order which is from staring contest to fur ripping fights until kitten is taught to stay at lesser area, which means under the beds and such. lower height locations.

That is order of the cat, which is of course complicated by the fact that kitten is scared and stays up.

Cat might be thinking something like "how bold that little one is to not come to greet master of the land and swap scents as is in the cat code, how arrogant he is, I must challenge this young one or will loose my territory sooner than delicious wet food gets spoiled!"

Also it is possible that Cat is even bit scared, high ground is dominant hunting position compared to his low ground, he may be considering little one to be stalking him from such position.

Your Cat's tail wiggle is telling he considers himself top level being on that house and actually you are one of his properties, other cats are then his competitors unless they show their willingness to submit to him, which kitten can't do while he is hiding up there.

Their ways are quite bit different from ours, but quite close of those of large tigers, even though there are some differences, their society is still hierarchy with older ones and females higher on ladder and younger ones being lower on ladder.

As they can't speak, they have different methods for communication, which is their scents they rub on things and each other, their positioning, their body posture, tail, whiskers and eyes. Large eyes and openly staring tells challenge is issued, but turning stare away means no settling of matter is needed so in there your Cat seems quite tolerable and little kitten probably understands his place too.

As kitten matures he may challenge authority of the Cat, neutering/spaying should however lessen the effects of that.

Strength of the cats is indeed far more than is possible to imagine, but only when cat finds enough good motivation. Tigers and these small cats are surprisingly close to each other, given the motivation tiger can jump higher than 4 meters, they had to change fence heights on zoos as they found this out hard way.

So can little cat jump as impossible high, use such high level of strength that one has trouble to really understand it until experiencing it first hand.

I think it is that huge range, from cuddle buddy to rip everything to pieces monster, that also makes them so interesting along that fact that they never are truly tame creatures.

I have lost one carrier for the fury of the cat too, it happens :)

Kitten has been to the vet. Basically a tall friend of mine just went in, grabbed it (and scared her I may add) wrapped up in a big towel and out in a carry case.

The kitten is A GIRL! Has no fleas, no ear mites, is clean, no leukemia or aids. In fact, healthy! All joints tested, swaps of rectal areas, vaccinated, dewormed, and everything else. I need to have back in Vets in 21 days.

Kitten is only roughly 8 weeks old NOW, so only perhaps 5 weeks old when I found her.

It will now be a very long road to socialize and bind. She is not going to like me for a little while

Congrats!

It is great to have her healthy and that horror behind, no need to worry anymore and maybe the Cat can help with you in socialization process. I have found from my cat population that if one gets something, rest have to get it, they even step over each other to get whatever that one got, use that as your advantage, give the Cat knibbles, treats, almost anything so that the Kitten sees it and I think soon curiosity does get better of her!

So happy she has a clean bill of health.  Now Cat can come in freely and help with socializing.  She might be very interested in watching you play with Cat or watching you give Cat special treats.

Does she go back in 21 days for the spay?

This is this evening. Kitten is very eager to cuddle up and be loved by cat. Cat is ok with it but not ready for cuddling yet. They are figuring each other out, currently lying down away from each other and blinking a lot.

Not sure what's going on. I'm here, cat is here, kitten is here and NOT on the air com unit.

It's all very bizarre, like a stepford cat! I have no idea about names, any ideas?

Yay! So glad to hear your new little GIRL is healthy and all checked out!

Also interested to know if she's going back to get 'fixed.'

They won't spay until she's a few months old, she goes in for a top up of her vaccinations. She's definitely happier with cat about, cat is just very confused about what's going on and why this little thing wants to be near him.

But fixing is definitely on the cards, they want her to be just a little older first. Like 4-5 months old.

The fact that she is so young is on your side.  She must be a pistol to have remained so wild in spite of how young she was when she arrived.  Good that Cat can help socialize her now.  I think as her life settles into her new routine, she will calm down.  The spaying will definitely help with that too.

Good job!

Haha a pistol, you are so very right. They vets kept calling her xiao Lu hao, meaning little tiger. She's feisty that's for sure!

She is so young that whatever Cat does is probably going to be something she will do also, adult cat is perhaps her safe lighthouse in odd world she has been taken into. Cat is perhaps trying to calm her down and teach rules of the house too, you don't need to worry, let Cat handle that part :D

Things might improve very rapidly from there, who knows, pic is really awesome, Cat looks like a guardian of one bit confused little kitty there, so sweet :)

Of course Cat has some adjusting to be done also, all of sudden there are one of his species around and she being even a baby who knows what is going on Cat's mind, but if they blink a lot it is good as there is some kind of liking between them.

Imagine if all of sudden there would be new child in the house calling you mama, that would confuse anyone for sure, so it takes bit time to develop new routines, teach house rules, learn that playing chase when lights are out is not nice etc. lot of cat things needs adjusting, limits needs poking and some rules need to be tested, it is wonderful learning process for humans too!

Oh yes, at one point little one might test if those monsters called human are really that safe around, there might be peeing on pillow, dropping something valuable or shredding some things to pieces, they kind of like to know what will be the limit and what will the result be. They stopped here when monster became awful noisy after such tests :)

Okay-so that was the easy part, haha.

Did you say Cat was also a rescue ?It may be good for him to have another cat too.

Who knows what kind of socializing he had.I read a bit about this.Like humans cats learn from

Mom.So ..my rescues were well into adulthood, but it took some patience.

Literature says they sort of see us as a Big Cat,and your hand would be seen as a head.

So great little cat made it out of the drainpipe!

Kitten has been named Lucky! I thought was fitting.

So now cat is establishing the pecking order through play time. He pins down the kitten and bites (gently, no blood). The kitten allows it and they scamper about . Kitten runs and hides then charges out, they swat each other and cat pins down again. I have watched carefully. He bites neck while in a "mounting position" to calm it down, no sexual, puts kitten on its back. In all times the play is entirely silent, no hissing or meowing and kitten is happy to continue. He seems to know this is a baby.

It looks terrifying to me but advice says this is normal - I've never witnessed cat play times before. They never play without me there. I think they will be good together. I think Lucky is trying to snuggle in and Cat is less keen, but overtime I think it will change.

Lucky is still terrified of me and will only come near if Cat is around. I'm leaving her room door open and slowly she's beginning to explore the area but always runs back to the bedroom.

So that's where we are now!

Great progress!!  Use cat to your advantage.  One tip is to play with Cat while Lucky watches.  You want Lucky to see that humans are ok and that you can be fun!  It may take her a bit to play, but I assure you she will watch with interest!

I have used straws, those colorful meant for kids, when really young mine were afraid of hands, fingers seemed to be like claws to them, but especially bright green straws were something that interested them enough to come and play, also they could chew them and they liked a lot from that. Even today I did play one of mine with straw even he is ok with hands, it is just something he remembers being nice thing and kind of excepts to happen every now and then.

Sounds that straws make when turning or pulling that end where is that bit which allows end to tilt (don't know english word for it) that sound seems to be something they like and when they hear it is no avoiding of playtime then.
