hello friends,

I need your help urgently ....

My cat was perfectly fine 2 hours back as i hold her with my hand on her chest BUT now she suddenly got a strange swollen node on her chest which hurts if touched.. the node has no redness or any symptoms of swell but it hurts her if touched.

There are no vets available here so i am totally helpless :((

friends please give me some idea whats wrong.

someone told me its just an infection and asked me to give some light antibiotic for that.

Where are you located that has no vets? How far away is the nearest vet?

Was the cat recently outside? Is there a chance she was bitten by an insect, snake or other animal that has caused a reaction?

How big is the swelling? Is there any discharge? If you suspected an allergic reaction you could do a wet compress with wet sodium bicarbonate powder.

What is her behavior like when you aren't touching it?

Please don't try and medicate your cat, especially with human medications unless instructed by a vet. An incorrect dosage or an ingredient in a medication that is safe for us can be dangerous for a cat. As you can see from @StephenQ's questions, there are a lot of potential causes for the swelling and it's equally important to know how it may have happened as it is to actually treating it.

If you can provide your general location (such as the nearest city/large city), we can help find nearby vets or emergency vets since in North America at least, it's Sunday right now.

I am from Pakistan, here in my city just 2-3 so called vets but they are fake .. i cant take the risk to take my cat to them as i have seen what they do. :(

not snake but insect bite is possible as i saw 2 centipede in my house few days back.

swelling is about 1cm bulge and kinda hard.

she is still active and playful as always but a bit scared.

when touched she makes a soft grawl .. not as anger but as if she feel pain.

friend kindly explain this "wet compress with wet sodium bicarbonate powder."

its sad to say but here in my city all vets are fake, they may have registed themselves in many site etc but i have personally met each one of them and i cant trust them.

I read in few forms online that a centipede bite can cause a swollen node but was not able to find much info about it. my cat is behaving perfectly normal .. she is running playing as long as no one touch that swollen part which results in a soft painful sound from her and she tries to move so that that part remains untouched ... apart from that u can touch her .. infect she was just sitting on my lap asking me to pat her.

This may be a starting point: http://www.uvas.edu.pk/facility/out-door/index.htm

Here is a discussion thread of people in Pakistan looking for a good vet: http://pawspakistan.org/2009/01/01/veterinary-doctors-in-pakistan/

Also, contact PAWS (Pakistan Animal Welfare Society) and ask where you can find a list of qualified vets.

Here is a list of veterinary schools (from wikipedia) in Pakistan. Contact them for a list of qualified vets.

I would look at cocheezies links. What I said earlier is this: if you suspect any type of allergic reaction
A wet compress is like a small towel made wet with water and the you add a wet paste of sodium bicarbonate also known as
Baking powder (see this link). http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sodium_bicarbonate

The problem is you don't know the cause and we can't tell you what it is. It may get better on it's own but a vet would be better.
