After losing one of tree kittens due to feeding issues, I am now having a second problem....  Recap.  Our first time accidental pregnancy momma had three kittens on july 1.  Stasky Hutch and Huggy Bear.  Huggy Bear died yesterday morning due to failiar to thrive.  I realize now that momma cat only had two desirable nipples.  I realized that when she took one kitten away and dropped it upstairs in my boys' room.  Upon it's return I laid her down to nurse, finding that now we have two kittens fighting for one nipple!!!!!!  I let one nurse for about 5-10 minutes while I had the other try latching onto the other nipples I could find through momma's fur.  she would latch on and then let go to every one I found.  SOOOOOO.... I tried the eye dropper with milk replacement to give a little supplement.  needless to say, momma was not happy and kitty did not take to the dropper or bottle (which seems a little big)....

Has anyone had this problem?  can you give me good solid advice... I really really really really don't want to lose another baby!!!  thank you Laura

I suppose you must proceed with what you already do.  See to each of the kittens has some quality time at the nipple which works, and continue to supplement with the dropper.    You must try several times before they hatch on, I mean, its quite normal!.

Bottle may be more difficult, esp in the beginning and they a little weak.  But an useful alternative is a syringe.   Either a dosage syringe, or a small real syringe, but without the needle.

In the corner of the mouth, tummy down, head up.

Good luck!

Have you tried using a cosmetic sponge to supplement?  I have heard that it can be used for puppies and kittens and they take to it better than a bottle.
