Taking my babies to die at the vets has just not worked out, I felt like it hurt them, and they were scared. I have had many die at home also, and I also feel guilty about that if they were in pain. I just don't know what to do anymore, and I have two elders right now. Can they stay home with pain pills? I think that would be my preference, but I just don't know anymore.

I know - it is really, really hard when the time comes to have to let them go. :alright: We actually have a thread on this subject going on in Health if you are interested in reading other's opinions/experiences of at home euthanasia vs. vet's office. I will post it here for you in case you would like to look it over. http://www.thecatsite.com/t/280645/at-home-euthnasia-vs-vets-office

I honestly don't think there is a right way or a wrong way but I think the most important thing is to have a vet that you trust and one that is compassionate, very loving with you and with your kitty during this extremely emotional procedure. I am sorry, as it sounds like you may have had a bad experience with euthanasia in the past? I hope the thread above will offer you some support. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes: for your elderly kitties.

I don't know how to answer your question, but wanted to let you know that my sympathies are with you.  It's a very difficult thing.  A doctor I used to work for, his wife got the medication and put their dog to sleep herself because the dog was so afraid any time she had to go to the vet.  I admired the doctor's wife for for her courage, but I know this is something I personally would not be able to do.   I wish the best for you and your cats and wish I could be of more help.
