It may seem long ago to you, but to me, it was yesterday- November 24, 2013 when I lost Scooter. I knew he was sick. I knew he was dying but, I didn't want to know this. He was my first and only pet. Besides the fact that he had his "period days" as we liked to call them, he was a wonderful friend. I couldn't stand the thought of loosing my friend. Sadly it was getting close to Christmas and we couldn't afford the surgery and tests they had to perform so we had to put Scooter down due to a blood clot disabling the use of his back legs.

Luckily I woke up to a wonderful new friend Oliver Quincy who is now 11 months old. He's the most loveable cat ever. We could throw him across the room and he'd love. I am so grateful to be blessed with a wonderful kitten because honestly, after dealing with a lost pet, the best therapy is to get a new one. Do not feel guilty. You're not replacing your old pet, you're just adding to the family.

Im sorry for your loss. I know it's never easy. I also lost one of my cats this past winter...december 13 to be exact. Her photo is my avatar. She was the sweetest cat i'd ever known...my heart aches immensely when i think of her. She very unexpectedly came into my life and left me so suddenly. I cant even explain how difficult this loss has been for me. But You're absolutely right that the lost pets cant be replaced. I have two other cats who i love to death and we just rescued an orphaned kitten at 3 weeks. I'll never forget my baby Luna and my love for her will never end, but in the now, im in good company and that makes me happy. I know how you feel. I hope that you find much solace in the memories.

I agree that having another little furry face that demands your attention and love helps in the grieving process, after all, your Scooter would be honored to share a space in your heart in his memory. They will never be forgotten, a love like that never dies, but dwells forever safe and warm in it's special place in your heart. Please keep expressing your grief to others who care, it definitely helps in the grieving process and one day your tears will turn to smiles when you think of Scooter and what he meant to you. Kiss Oliver Quincy for me, he is a very lucky cat to have you as a 'parent'. RIP beautiful Scooter, you were well loved!

I'm very sorry about your loss of Scooter. We lost our beloved cat in March of 2013, and not a day passes without my thinking of him. We, too, opened our home to another cat, who has proved to be a wonderful feline grief counselor. RIP, Scooter. :rbheart:

I know some people don't believe in a after life but I feel blessed that I do. For I live with piece knowing I will see them again. I believe your girl is still with you. She likes hanging around. I feel you are honoring her by saving another. She is happy for that. After all she knows the love you gave her is big enough to give to another!!!

@sharon Bud, reading your account made my eyes well up with tears. You're so lucky to have caught a glimpse of your baby. I dont think you're being silly at all. I too believe in the after life and we'll all be united with our loved ones! Hang in there.
