Good morning! Hope you're well too!

1.- Do you recicle? (paper, glass or other materials )

Yes, absolutely - we do compost too, but our apartment building doesn't separate compost. Once our compost bin is full, we just toss it in the garbage since it has nowhere else to go.

2.- Do you put your trash in diferent places classified ?

Our apartment only separates trash and recycling, but if we have electronics or batteries that we can't use, I give them to my brother as his company recycles and safely disposes of them.

3.- Do you clean your fridge,... how often you do ? or you have fridge an disnosour inside..

I don't clean it very often, I think only when something spills, lol. But we almost let it get bare bones empty before we get groceries. When my boyfriend lived with another male roommate, I would find moldy food in their fridge so I'm hypervigilant about not keeping any dinosaurs in there!

4.- Do you put off all your gadgets, tvs, ovens, an any electrical instrument in order to help against at the global warming?

Unless I'm rendering on my computer, the only things that stay plugged in and on are the chargers for my iPod, phone, and the AC in the summer (or space heater in the winter). It's wasteful to keep a lot of that stuff running - not to mention expensive!!

5.- Do you have an advice (please) to share to us for help in this fight? Please? ANY is very important, maybe you can bring a good Idea for this fight!

Don't leave vehicles idling (drive thru is the worst!), take public transit, pick up trash as you go, get out there on community days and help clean debris, run your own "earth hour" whenever you can spare the time to sit down and read a book or do something that doesn't rely on electricity.

My apartment isn't recycle friendly- meaning there's a catch all dumpster and no way to separate anything- unless I physically take it to the recycling place myself and its not near by. Not worth the drive with gas and such IMO.

At work, we reuse paper. if its printed on one side, we'll either reprint on the other side or use it for scraps/notes.
We pick up every paperclip or rubberband we find on the floor and reuse that.

We get constant email reminders to turn off water when washing dishes or hands. keep it on when in use (meaning don't let it run)

All computers and electronics are turned off for the weekend

I should, but our recycling here is worthless.  No aluminum, no glass...I don't even know what we're recycling.
2.- Do you put your trash in diferent places classified ?
We don't have any different types of trash, just trash and recycling.

3.- Do you clean your fridge,... how often you do ? or you have freeze an dinosour inside...

I clean the fridge as needed, an d defrost the deep freezer about once a year.

4.- Do you put off all your gadgets, tvs, ovens, an any electrical instrument in order to help against at the global warming?
I don't like a lot of light, so I tend to have very few lights on.  I do keep nightlights on by the cats' water bowl and one litter box, but if I don't I'll trip and fall!  Otherwise I am bad about the TV being on if I am in the room.  Not when I leave to go to bed though.

Use old shirts/towels to clean instead of paper towels.  Do you really need 10 different types of cleaner in your house?  One of the best degreasers I've found by far is plain ole isopropyl alcohol.  I use it to wipe off the flat stove top, cut grease on my meat grinder, clean up "spills" from my cats' raw feeding, etc.  Vinegar is a good one too.

Good morning, Rigel!

1.- Do you recicle? (paper, glass or other materials )

We recycle everything we possibly can: steel and aluminum cans, plastics #1 and #2, newspaper, shredded office-type paper and envelopes, cardboard and fiberboard, magazines, etc. Since we now have single-stream recycling in the county, Rick's parents take advantage of that, even though they have to pay for it. But that allows us to even put other plastics (#5 margarine containers, for example, and cat litter pails) into recycling. (For those who may not know, single-stream recycling is putting everything you can recycle into one container instead of separating the items. The container is picked up, dumped into the truck and then the things are separated at the center. You have to pay for it, but a lot of people will pay for the convenience.)

We are going to purchase a compost bin at the end of the month and start composting for the garden and flowerbeds. That will also allow us to reduce our trash every week; items that are now going into the trash will go into the composter instead. By that point, pretty much the only thing that will actually go into the trash will be bones from meats and such and the used cat litter as well as any fats, oils, etc used in cooking. Everything else will either be recycled or composted....at least that is our goal. We shall see how it turns out.

For a list of items that can be composted, check out: http://mantis.com/global/assets/c-twin/CTWN_CompMtrl_Jan2010.pdf  (I've posted this before, but it's really interesting)

2.- Do you put your trash in diferent places classified?

We just have trash for the disposal people to pick up on a weekly basis. We have to take our recycling to our municipal recycling center, but it's right on the way for banking and errands on Saturday morning. Single-stream at Rick's parents gets picked up weekly.

3.- Do you clean your fridge,... how often you do ? or you have freeze an dinosour inside

I clean the refrigerator every Wednesday night when we clean out the litter boxes for trash night. I take everything out, wipe it down, wipe down the inside of the fridge, then put it all back. Doesn't take long, simply because I do it every week. And we really don't have much in the way of old food in the fridge because I'm such a bear about using leftovers. Our freezers get a thorough cleaning once a year, right before the garden produce is ready to be picked and frozen. We have two freezers; one is used for produce, soups, and such. The other is strictly for meat (and Rick's applesauce).

I know I've mentioned this before, but I have an Excel list called, "What's in the Freezer?" that I keep in plain sight all the time. As I use something from the freezer, I cross it off; when I buy things I add them to the list. That way, I always know what's in our freezers. You won't find a four-year old turkey in our fridge.

4.- Do you put off all your gadgets, tvs, ovens, an any electrical instrument in order to help against at the global warming?

No, we're really bad about that.
If we're going on vacation, we will unplug the appliances, tvs, etc.And I will turn the computers off. And the water. But other than that, no. I do unplug the microwave and the Keurig every morning before I go to work, but that's more because of fire than anything else.

I got used to falling asleep with the tv on and then awakening around 2:00 in the morning and then turning it off. We have a night lite in the bathroom that I turn on at night and then turn off in the morning. In the kitchen, the lights from the fridge are on all the time and I keep them that way. It helps to see where I'm going in the dark.

5.- Do you have an advice (please) to share to us for help in this fight? Please? ANY is very important, maybe you can bring a good Idea for this fight!

We usually run our dishwasher around 11:00 at night, which is past the time most people operate theirs. Our power company sent us a letter that mentioned operating the dishwasher after 7:00 p.m. or after peak hours to save on electricity. And because we do it at night, we don't use the drying cycle because the dishes will normally dry on their own through the night and be fine by the morning.

My sister taught me to re-use old bread bags, cereal bags, and the like to scoop used cat litter into. It saves using all those plastic bags. Since we started taking our own (Trader Joe's) reusable bags to the grocery store, I don't have a lot of plastic store bags anymore. We usually don't take plastic bags from places like Lowes and Target, if we can avoid them.

We're able to recycle newspapers plastic bottles and lately food and what's good for compost.

I'm very bad at cleaning my fridge.

Do you mean switch off at night electric point? If yes then. No

No suggestions or advice.

1.- Do you recycle? (paper, glass or other materials ) Absolutely. Whenever possible, we avoid no deposit, no return containers.
2.- Do you put your trash in different places classified ? Yes. We have three separate bins (one for non-biodegradable trash, one for plastic and metal, one for paper) and a compost heap. Glass is taken to a recycling igloo or returned to the store.
3.- Do you clean your fridge,... how often you do ? or you have freeze an dinosour inside... The fridge every week. The freezer roughly 3x a year.
4.- Do you put off all your gadgets, tvs, ovens, an any electrical instrument in order to help against at the global warming? The only things ever left in stand-by mode are the computers.
5.- Do you have an advice (please) to share to us for help in this fight? Please? ANY is very important, maybe you can bring a good Idea for this fight! Walk or ride your bike whenever you can.
