Hi all,
I have a 15 month old cat that is very sick. I took him to the vet yesterday and was given azithromycin to give to him. The vet mentioned pneumonia. He hasn't eaten in a couple days no matter what I try. He will try to drink from the water bowl and through the faucet in the sink. I've also had to give him water with a syringe. I don't know what else to do about him not eating. He'll walk up to the dish when I am putting his canned food on it but he just stares at it. I've warmed it up and tried mixing it with water. I've done homemade chicken broth and liquid from tuna as well. I'm at a loss about what to do. He ate a couple bites yesterday and the day before but that's it. He is very congested so I know he can't smell his food. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I'd appreciate any help I can get!

When I said a couple bites I mean he licked the food a couple times and that was it.

Meat baby food does the trick at my house!  Get plain meat baby food, either turkey or chicken, and give him about a teaspoon every couple of hours.  While you're out.  Pick up some plain baby pedialyte and add a teaspoon to the baby food at every feeding.  You can warm it up in a water bath to help enhance the aroma.  It's absolutely imperative that your kitty eat or you'll be dealing with fatty liver disease, which is not a good thing.  Pick up a dropper or syringe while you're out as well as some Fancy Feast canned food.  If nothing else, you can syringe feed him.  Syringes are usually available at the pharmacy or feed store.  Droppers can be picked up in the baby section (used to give babies meds).

Thank you! I was going to get some pedialyte and give to him. I bought him some more canned food today because that was the only thing he was eating. I have a syringe I got from the vet so I'll try that.
